Leaky Tranny?

Well, few weeks ago when I was taking off my y-pipe, I noticed fluid coming out of my tranny....Well I know thats pretty vague, but anyone know any causes for it? The car shifts fine, except with the occasional things native to Nissan trannies, such as occasionally hard 1-2 shift....I was thinking (and a few friends were as well), was that it was a gasket in the pan, and that it was seeping through....A friend said its probably that, and it would only be around ~$90 to get it fixed (cost of gasket and fluid changing)....anyone have other ideas?

The leak you describe, is it near the inspection plate on your tranny? If so, it could be your rear main seal on it's way out. Hope this helps.

Yeah, someone told me it could be the rear main seal...It's definately coming from the upper area of the tranny, and rolls down the back, to the under side of it, so my guess is it the rear seal as well...approx, how much will it cost to get done?

I'm not sure of the cost yet but I can find out for you when I go to work tomorrow (work at Nissan Dealer). I have the same problem but a very minor leak from my inspection plate which pretty much tells me it's a rear main seal (on mine at least). Get back to you tomorrow between work and school though.

Very curious myself on this one

Dealer quoted me $1100 for a rear main oil seal, but I saw another member with a dealer quote for $570, including a clutch.
