strut replacement

I currently own a 1997 MAXIMA SE w/ a trouble-free 140,000 miles. I was wondering at what mileage should I replace my struts. Have I exceeded the expected life of them? If they do need to be replaced should I purchase them from NISSAN or can I get away with using another brand, like MONROE or KONI?

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks...

If they feel fine and still ride smooth, no need to replace them. If youre wanting to upgrade them then thats a different story. It will depend on what youre willing to spend and how comfortable the ride is to you.

My STRUTS were blown on my stock suspension when I removed them to install my springs, I never noticed, felt like a boat either way.
