I've actually seen two variations of the orange needles, there are some that are clear with red/orange backing, these are pretty obvious, and then there are the ones that seem to be completely made of translucent orange/red plastic. Mine are the second variety and I really don't mind them, I've gone over them with a small coat of translucent signal red model paint to make them a more red color, what I want to know is... on the 98-99's with the 74 style bulbs, I want to keep the white output but I want it to be brighter with no hotspots (or barely noticeable ones if they have to be there) anyone know how to manage this? Would Warm White LED's work?

but LED needles are nice.

I love those reverse indiglow gauges, but I can't seem to find them for the 98-99 max/I30. The odometer reading is digital an the space is different from the 95-97. Anyone know where to get ah pair of these for the 98-99??

Warm white LEDs put out "Warm White" rather than "Cool White" it refers to the color temperature, cooler being more blue or violet, warmer being closer to incandescent, and I was wondering, due to the color filter on our gauges meant to whiten standard incandescent light, would the warm white LED's be more likely to display a true white in our gauges?

The 1998 Maxima SE came with red needles but they are actually clear with red paint on the back of them rather than tinted red like the rest of them.

wow flipXmaxima- talk about back from the dead thread!

I have gone through iterations of blue, red and am about to go to white LED's. I have all red interior lighting so red matches the best but I am itching for that Lexus clean white gauge look with red needles so it still will technically match my interior lighting.

the problem with so many white leds is they make our gauges illuminate bluish because of the color filter...

If you already have SE gauges, just keep them and go with blue LED's.

They look way better in person. Its hard for my camera to capture them in the dark.

im on my second set of reverse indiglos because my first set from custommaxima died on me. got another set from http://www.elgauges.com/index.asp?Pa...PROD&ProdID=47 for $30 and they are the same as the ones on custommaxima for the most part. I have a 97 and i also replaced all the backlights with led from superbright leds which are very bright blue. The combination is great. The leds were just simple little push in bulbs, the same that go in the courtesy lights on the doors. Anyone with white needles should def consider this.

yeah, the glare does get annoying after a long drive, but they still kick @ss IMO...i'd consider the needles too, but i'm tired of dismantling the gauge cluster.
