Factory Keyless entry/alarm question

I have a 97 SE with the factory 4 button remote...How do u arm/disarm the alarm w/out having those annoying chirps....I got it to stop doing that after fiddling with the buttons over and over again when I first got the car...I replaced my battery with an Optima a few weeks ago and I have forgotten the routine obviously

Can anyone please give me the sequence of buttons?

TIA

You don't have a factory alarm. No 4th Gen factory alarm chirps.

Yup, factory alarms do nothing more than blink the lights, thats it.

Me Too

I bought a 99 last week and I have the checkmate 100 2 channel alarm system installed on it. It is made by Driven Technologies and their web site has a few notes on it. If you push the 2 button first, then push the one button (lock/unlock) it will disarm the chirp for that one time. This alarm is pretty annoying, like the doors will lock automatically if you leave the car unattended longer than 30 seconds and it locks when the ignition is turns on and unlocks when you turn it off and the biggest is the windows will not roll down with the remote like the factory model. Although it has some pluses, anyway good luck

I cant stand alarms that chirp to me i'ts like saying "hay, look at me I have expensive audio equipment that's why i have an alarm that makes noise, please dont steal all my stuff" I much prefer the silent. When we got my wife her 2000 Maxima we disabled the horn alert first thing (even before we bought it!! )

Re: Me Too

It happened today, I was on my way to make spare keys and left my key in the ignition and shut the door when I returned the alarm ahd armed itself and locked the doors, how annoying, I had to get a ghetto kid to unlock it.

SOME nissan remotes you can hold the UNLOCK buton and the LOCK button for three seconds and the lights will flash three times telling you the cherp is now off... it dont have to do with the car.. it has to do with the remote.. i have a altima, and i have two remotes, only one remote lets me change the chip option..
ps.. the instructions are on the back of the keyfob that lets me dis-ingauge the chip.
