Hi Rickalodean;
Here is what I can think of that I have repaired;
1. resistor pack in heater control switch
2. new starter due to whine at start
3. new outside CV boots
4. Left Front and Right Front power windows switches
5. Switched to Optima Red Top after three years
6. hood struts twice
7. EGR system plumbing due to carbon clogging
8. Knock Sensor
Maintenance:
I run two quarts of full Syntec 10W30 and the rest Castrol 10w30 Dino and change the OEM Nissan Filter and Oil every 3000 miles like clockwork. (Original Engine with oil that looks like honey)
I change my auto transmission fluid every 30,000 by the drain and fill method and recently had a complete flush and I am converting to Castrol Synthetic Dexron IV Transmission Fluid (Original Transmission)
I change my spark plugs every 60,000 miles with NGK Platinum plugs.
I change my fuel filter every 25,000 miles.
I flush and drain my cooling system every October. (I'm on my original water pump)
I gravity drain my brake fluid every year. Stock Brake Pads (never have I turned my brake rotors and no warp) I hand torque all lug nuts when I rotate going around the car three times at 30 pound/ft, then 60 pound/ft, and finally at 87 pound/ft.
Michelin MVX4 Energy Plus Tires (Original Toyos got 47,000 miles.
On my third set of Michelins, change after about 45,000 -50,000 miles with very little irregular wear (measure them with a tire gauge after each tire rotation).
I use Meguiar's Rubber and Vinyl Treatment on all rubber parts on the car about every 25,000 miles. (weatherstripping, CV boots, Rack and Pinion Boots, muffler hangers, dash, interior trim, etc.
I am still on my original alternator at 193,500 miles.
I run my air conditioner twice a month in the winter time to keep the seals from drying up.
I remove my spark plugs every 20,000 miles and rubber and vinyl treat the rubber on the coil packs and retorque the spark plugs to spec with a inch/pound torque wrench.
I rubber and vinyl treat all of the rubber boots on the brake calipers and emergency brake lines and brake lines when I am under the car checking the brakes or changing the oil.
I always rubber and vinyl treat the tires both in front and on the back.
I shampoo the carpet and seats frequently.
I could go on and on, but you get the picture.
Thanks for letting me tell my story. Thanks for asking.
