A/C cycles at 4th fan speed

Hi All,
I would like to seek your help on finding out my A/C problem. Lately I found out that when I set the fan speed to 4(highest setting), the A/C seems to work off and on. The symptom is that the air flow from the vents stays high for a couple of seconds and then suddenly drops, and comes back on high after a couple of seconds at low, and it will repeat this pattern until I set the fan speed to 3 or lower. Can someone shed light on what is wrong with A/C? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Hua

sounds like a "fan blower resistor" i had the same problem except that my 4th setting didnt go on and off, it was full blast at all times. but you need to get nissan part # 27150-1E405 (fan blower resistor)
take your old one out by looking under the glove box, under the dash, and there will be a brown clip clipped into a skinny plate held in by 2 screws. unscrew the screws and unclip the clip, take out the old part. put in the new one clip it in, screw it in...and you are all set.

It's not the resistor. The resistor only controls speeds 1, 2 and 3. If your having a problem with speed 4, your blower motor might be to blame, not the resistor pack. It's not using the resistors on that speed setting.

4 speed fan on auto climate control

My 99SE has automatic climate control with a manual override which allows 4 speeds on the fan setting. It's shows as manual with a fan icon 1,2,3, or 4.

Thank you all for replying. My Maxima is a 95 GXE. I don't think it has a climate control. Before the cyclical problem(please see my original post on the problem) occurred I added a can of R134/oil/cleaner/dye etc. combiantion from Walmart to the A/C system. I wonder if that has caused this problem. I added it through the low side according to the instructions so the procedure was not a problem there, but whether the stuff I added was good is the question. If I just put the fan on without turning on the A/C, then things are going fine. So I suspect it is the A/C that is doing this off and one thing.

Thanks
