It may or may not. I've had a Berk intake with K&N filter for over 20K miles now and I'm on my original 2002 MAF, and its the 22680-6N201 MAF. Before the Berk I had a K&N drop-in for another 30K miles.

Does it increase the risk? Yes. Does it guarantee MAF failure? No.
