P0300 and maf?

So I have had the P0300 (multiple cylinder misfire) code for about 4 days now and I have racked my brain for a fix. My idle has turned to complete crap, it misses from idle to any rpm. If I let it idle for a bit, it will die. No power whatsoever. I have searched the org for ideas from other members. I have replaced the fuel filter, had my injectors cleaned locally, checked the coils with an ohm-meter, replaced bank 1 primary o2 sensor, checked for manifold leaks, and swapped out the fuel pump with one I picked up from a salvage yard.

No luck.

I did notice that when I unplugged the maf sensor, my idle would go up, and it would run fairly good again.Wierd. So I took the sensor out of the housing and sprayed it down with some electrical connector cleaner, wiped out the housing and put everything back together. It now runs much better . Slight vibration at idle, and it feels like it is being held back from 4k to 5k a bit, but the rest of the powerband is great.

Has anyone else had similar symptoms, or had there maf sensor replaced due to a P0300 code?

hmm, how weird...i never knew MAF could mess up the car like that? at least thats what the FSM says...the FSM lists no MAF failure leading to 0300 codes

there was a local guy that had his maf blown on his 2k2...his idle was crap but he still had some power...its just he couldn't rev past 2.5k...

It would idle like crap, but it did have a bit of power until 2k then it would rev up still, but was real slow and had no *****. Good thing no metro's stepped to me, I would have had my *** handed to me.

Interesting. I have had the P0300 code quite a bit lately. Most times it will go off by itself after a couple days and then return a few days later. I think my MAF is fine. No problem accelerating and it pulls to redline.

However, along with the P0300, I get P1456 (Evap system - small leak) I replaced my gas cap and checked the hoses at the evap box. Still getting those codes, though. I'd be interested to see what other's experiences have been.

With the cleaned maf, I started getting p0171, bank 1 lean. I searched online, and found that this is a classic maf failure sign. So I went down to the stealership, and purchased a new 01 Maf. For those of you who don't know, the 01 maf is exactly the same as the 02-03 maf except that the 02-03 ones have the air intake temp sensor. Easy fix, it is a simple resistor that unplugs from the old maf, and plugs right into the 01 maf. After installing it I reset the ecu, and whoalla! No more codes, and it runs great again.

Ditto to the Max (arf arf)

The same thing is happening to my 03 Max. I've been getting P0300 and P0303 codes come and go for a year or two. About a month ago, my idle turned to crap, the car would shudder, and the SES would start blinking. I replaced all my plugs (117k on them) and the car ran great for about 3 weeks. I check all my coils w/ a DMM; those were fine. But after reading this and a ton of other threads where changing the MAF fixed all their problems, I ordered an MAF from a local junkyard. I'm being cheap because I'm not completely convinced it's the MAF, so I paid $75 for one with 80k on it. The cheapest I could find for a new aftermarket was like $300 w/ shipping. I probably should change the fuel filter, but I've got my fingers crossed that the MAF will be my long awaited panacea.

Wish me luck!

i have the same issue...at first i had the MAF problem so it stated with codes p0113 and p0102. i purchased a new one (aftermarket) and it cleared the problem. no more SES then after a few miles of driving the SES came back on. Went back to the mechanic and NOW p0300 code came. I did feel a hesitation between 3500-4000. Mechanic cleared the code from 02 reader and now there's no hesitation across the line. my idle is ok at 600-700 on a stop.

I'll see when the code will come back...i'll try spark plug and coil swap.

I've got this P0300 and p1448, p0430, p0455, p1448, p0011. I replaced both camshaft position sensors and just bought some NGK plugs to put in. My idle is s*** and I wanna solve that before I move onto the evap leak.
