Don't know how to answer the first part, but the VG is easier to get turbo parts for, due to the availability of a factory vg30et.

If you insist on gonig turbo go vg for the novice the turbo setup is much more entry level and affordable. Im looking at $5k+ for my VE Turbo build. And I own the shop.

Manual swap that car, you can put more power down, without worry (to a point, of course)

In going to stay stock and just take care of the motor. It's running really good and has great compression.

Do that. I was thinking on that turbo route back when I 1st got my car. After I did homework on money, down time and fab work it didn't seem worth it. Plus I was too anxious to drive the damn thing.

I had a Mazda rx7 turbo 2 back in my high school days, and I would love to go back to turbo, but the truth is its not worth it on a maxima. But I still love my max.
