I assume you mean you replaced the fuel pump. The sending unit is just a level sensor for the fuel gauge.

Is there an engine miss? How well does it rev when in neutral? If everything is fine in neutral, I'd say your transmission is stuck in a high gear.

As mentioned sounds like tranny is slipping, have u checked trans fluid level and serviced the trans fluid? I'd start there with drain/fills and add 1 bottle of "Lucas tranny fluid treatment ".

You've given only little bit of your symptoms but if in P or N she throttles smoothly through all rpm ranges, then you could have A/T issue. Have you tested you fuel/ignition systems yet? Have you checked you PCM/ECM for trouble codes yet?

1. Check your accelerator cable tension.

2. When in D, and stopped in a level surface, does it roll forward? Does it shift into all gears? At what RPM does your car move forward from a complete stop? Try pressure checking your transaxle if you can. Drain your ATF, drop the pan and visually inspect the fluid color under the sun. If it's kinda purple and sparkling (or a noticeable silver line), the fluid has overheated and you have massive shavings from the gearsets. Check for flakes as well because when the fluid was overheated, the paper friction material from the clutches flake off. Check the magnet as well for bits or anything.

It could either be a roasted transmission (very likely) or the transmission computer is toast (not likely, but it happened to me). As mentioned above, see how the car rolls forward on a flat surface with the car in D. Try shifting it down to 1. If it rolls better, it could be the computer that crapped out. The car goes into a fail-safe mode and keeps the transmission stuck in 2nd.

I've seen pans on the side but not on top of a transmission.

I've overhauled a 41TE from an 02 Chrysler T&C that went to "limp mode" but it has the MIL illuminated. Is it the same for OBD1s?

Don't think so. I knew something was up with mine when the light for the power/comfort switch wouldn't turn on. The bulbs were fine too.

Have you bothered checking out your throttle position switch? Only thing with a electrical hook up located on the throttle body.

Lol. Man the dealer isn't gonna be able to reprogram anything for these cars. Hell I don't think theres anything that can be reprogramed. All you do is go to either Rock Auto or Courtesy and order a new one. Theres only 2 screws holding it in. PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT POSITION ITS IN WHEN YOU REMOVE IT! The thing is very sensitive if its off just a bit so put the new one back exactly where the old one came off from. Then crank her up and see what the verdict is. This should fix the issue. I had the same thing and did this. My late throttle response/ hesitation issue was resolved.
