speedometer is off

speedometer is off
so my speedometer is off by 10. i noticed this the other day, my friend said its probably the enkies that i put on it. is there anyway i can fix this? or should i just buy a tom tom and call it good?

It is more then likely tires. You have to keep the same height as what was on your vehicle from the factory. Im soon putting 18's on mine and im still gonna make sure that my tire and rim size stay the same height as what came from Nissan when the car was made.

yeah. well there 17's. i put them next to my stock wheels and they looked like the same size. but its only off by ten when im on the freeway (60+). i really dont want to have to buy new wheels though. might just deal with it

Just realize it can effect more then just your speedometer it could by chance effect your suspension over time or your transmission. Most likely not but then again i could be wrong. Havent ever had to deal with anything like that. I always do the math to figure correct fitment.

This may be of help for you:

Set the left side to OEM specs:
205/65-15x6.0 ET35
Then set the right side to whatever setup you're looking for. The chart below it should tell you the clearances and may warn you about fitting them on your vehicle including the speedometer conflict.
And looks like you may need 205/50-17 tires to be as close as OEM without going over.

use a TIRE CALCULATOR. That will tell you the percent that your speedo is off.

Stock size is 205/65/15
With 17s you should be running 235/45/17 or 215/50/17. Those are both very close. You can also use 225/45/17, but the speedo is a little off.
Any size 17s other than what I listed will throw your speedo off by a certain percent, determined by the actual tire size.
