Torque specs.

I need to know the torque specs for the VG flywheel, the pressure plate, and axle nuts. I have the specs but I'm not sure if they're right flywheel 61-69ft lbs Axle lock nut 174-231ft lbs Pressure plate 25-33ft lbs Lemme know what you guys thinks.

Looks about right to me. be sure to torque the wheel bearings to the max of that spec. go too low and they have a tendency to come loose and eat wheel bearings.

2. download FSM.
3. open to appropriate section and find specs for yourself.
4. work on car with full confidence in your work.

one small problem.

the only FSM for 3rd gens online is a 94. which has torque specs for a VE flywheel with 8 bolts, but not a VG flywheel with 6 bolts, since all the 92-94 VGs were automatics.

Yea, I had an fsm but it didn't look right. I just wanted to verify before I took it down the road and right back to square one! I'll be done tomorrow! I'll let you guys know how it turns out!

The FSM I have has both VE & VG from 89-94.

the FSM goes one year at a time.. the only PDF out there for 3rd gens is the 94. 4th gen and newer has all years, but not 3rd gens.

unless you have something nobody else does, then what you saw for the VG was the a/t flexplate, not the m/t flywheel.

however since the VE uses the same spec for the a/t or m/t, it's safe to assume the VG does the same thing. which evidently is 61-69 no matter what.

the 92 fsm has vg and ve sections and its thick as a phone book

i noticed that after the fact, o Captain my Captain

for some reason i thought i had seen them listed as being different in the past.. not sure why. or maybe i assumed that 8 bolts would need less tq-per-bolt than 6.

Bros, I got it running. Everything went well. I torqued the axle nut to 220. Think that will be enough? Sadly, one of the axle seals is leaking $100 worth of transmission fluid out. Gotta get that fixed! Thanks for the help gang!
