Steering problem

Remember I live in the NE so it's cold outside... Whenever I first get in the car the wheel is hard to turn no matter if morning, afternoon, or night. After I drive a couple of minutes it loosens up and the wheel feels normal and easy to turn... the only thing that came to mind for me was a ps pump going bad. any thoughts??

^ that and u might have to bleed it to let the air out, by opening the cap and turning your wheel max left/right a few times.

i would think bleed it too, my Max is garaged now but last year i parked outside and even in -40c my steering was normal right after startup

i dont believe the front wheels need to be off the floor, wouldnt be the best to turn them on dry asphalt but on snow theres enough lubrication that there shouldnt be a problem

I have the same issue, only happens when it is bitter cold. it has done that since i started driving it in 2002 and the pump was replaced prior to my brother buying it. i have bleed, refilled, used lucas additives and it still does it. its one of my cars quirks

Sounds like the power steering rack piston/sleeve is worn out. When it warms up it expands and has more presssure......Changing the Power steering rack should do it.

leave wheels straight at fast idle til she's warm then take cap off, turn wheel left/right without hitting the stops. After doing that for a few minutes then put the wheels straight again and let her idle for a bit and then shut off. Don't forget 2 check da fluid level again. Take her for a run around the block and see what's good.
