So, I have had this problem for a year now (or close to it). I have replaced the plugs twice now, most recently with a set of BKR6E-11 V-Powers (heat range colder than stock) new ignition module, new cam sensor, 2 different MAF's, new fuel filter. I always run premium (93 octane here) the timing is bumped a couple of degrees (it had this problem before I did that though). Since the new module and colder plugs it was better, but now it seems to be gettin back to it's old self. Under normal in town driving conditions it will "jump" as in like you floored it and let off suddenly and then lay over with no throttle response for a second or two then it will drive on just fine (maybe) the tach acts alittle wiered when this happens as well. When it's idleing the idle will drop like it's gonna die but it usually compensates and will stay running (occasionally it dies) It also has these symptoms under full throttle. Rarely i'll be cruising and the tach will drop from around 2200 to 0 and the car lays over. I've gotten to were now when this happens I'll push the clutch in and wait for the idiot lights to come on (engine light, oil pressure, etc.) and then resart it and keep goin. But, sometimes I have to turn the ignition off for a second and then try restarting it again. This is all intermittent. Somedays, it runs like I'm sure it did off the showfloor. Other's...I cuss at it all day. My fear is an itermittent problem with the ECU. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

when's the last time you cleaned the IACV and TB ? also sounds like it may be TPS related.

It's been about 7 or 8 months since the TB was cleaned, I havent pulled the IACV off to clean it. It dosent always do all of this though. Just sometimes. I've thought about the TPS but I thought it would do it all the time.

My car is a 92 VE 5 (I was lookin at a 94 VE 5 when I joined) When the coils crack on these cars can you always see them? Or are they so small they're hard to spot. I have had all 6 coils out of it several times, they all look fine, one of them tested about .2 ohms to high on resistance, it was on the backside of the motor. The plugs are a little dirty but they look pretty much normal.

My car had a bad rear coil pack and it did this. It looked brand new. I swapped almost everything imaginable because I thought the rears were all good. MrGone and I spend hours on this, just to find out it was my rear coil pack nearest the passenger side.
I bought a set of used ones from an .org member that wrecked his car and everything was fine after that.
