VG Belts Before Engine Install

Can anyone remember if it's OK to install ALL the drive belts while the engine is on the stand, then plop the whole thing in.

I have the power steering pump removed with both hoses removed, so those too installed outside if possible?

(For some reason I don't know why, but I remember before engine removal, I removed all the belts while engine was in the bay.)

Put your timing belt on and cover... but as for the rest of the belts... I believe you should prolly leave them off for install (alty and other components should be off the engine while installing anyway, so there's no point of having a loose belt hanging there) and put them on when you're done...

where is your a/c compressor? removed that too? Nothing wrong with installing belts ahead of time as long as the items to install the belts to are attached to their respective bracketry

i always unplug the wiring on the alty from the car (subharness 2 white connectors, and the regulator plug, etc), but i tend to remove the PS pump from the motor.... also i remove the a/c from the motor. and since you have to take the ps pump belt off, you might as well take the alternator belt off too.

I'd say leave them off. it's a major beyotch to put the radiator/heater hoses on with the belts installed. leaving them off gives you more working room to get the belts on.
