STILLEN BODY KIT "how to?"...

I have searched for this but people are saying this or that about it... I just picked up my stillen body kit today the WHOLE kit for only $150.00 I know some people are like dang... anyways heres the question. Whats the best way and most easy way to put it on so that i wont have to worry about it coming off and 'molding it to the body is a no in my case'**Please feel free to post pictures of what ur talking about it would help out alot.**

*IF U DONT HAVE THE KIT OR NEVER INSTALLED ONE...LET IT BE KNOWN BEFORE YOU TYPE* that way when people come to read they will know right off the bat what they need to know without reading something thats gonna have them running up walls. thanks.

Its all bent right now except for the sides the guy said i could HEAT them up a lil to get them back in the right shape. im not sure if holes are in it or now i doubt that they are because the kit was never used. its pretty much new. and its NOT painted.

ok well it'll go back to shape if you throw it in the sun for a littlee while.
follow directions (if they came with it).
ditch the foam tape they give you and use 3M mounting tape...it's gray in color.
test fit everything...make sure it looks ok w/o the tape.
use a 3M maroon pad and some soft scrub and scrub all the pieces....rinse clean.
get some prep sol and clean it up really good. then follow the painting procedures.

to mount use the double sided tape and put it on the pieces...then use the prep sol to clean the car and stick it on there. use screws to mount the end points that are in the wheel wells.

i used counter sunk rivets for the corners of the front lip...right next to the corner blinker.

that's about it...not too much to it i guess.

Some mounting tips from when i put mine on.....for the rear lip i used 2 rivets on each wheelwell and also 2 inside the muffler pocket with the 3m doublesided tape its grey with a red outer peal-off.....for the side skirts i put 1 in each wheelwell and 2 inside the door jamb along with the 2 sided tape...... the front i used 2 rivets in each wheelwell and 1 on each side where it comes to a point right above the fog light with tape around it also.... i black majic markerd the tips of the rivet heads to make them black.... also up front i used a peice of aluminum to attach underneath the front lip where it meets the car for rigidity....

I bought it from a guy for only $150 nothing else came with it but the kit itself...it was never used...but Ok... I think I got it now so to sum up this thread....

1. Set kit in the sun to bend it how u want it.(or can i use a heat gun?)

2. Dont use the foam tape they/Stillen gives you and use 3M MOUNTING TAPE..(gray in color)

3.Test all parts to make sure they fit WITHOUT TAPE.

4. Use a 3M MAROON PAD and some SOFT SCRUB and scrub all the pieces.... and rinse clean(to get off any oils or whatever is on there?)

5. Use 3M MOUNTING TAPE on the whole kit...
6. FOR REAR LIP: Use 2 RIVETS on each wheelwell and also 2 RIVERTS inside the muffler pocket (IF NEEDED)
7. FOR FRONT LIP: Use 2 RIVETS in each wheelwell and 1 on each side where it comes to a point right above the fog light.
8. FOR THE SIDE SKIRTS: PUse 4 RIVETS 1 in each of the wheelwells and 2 inside the door jams..

and im not sure what ur talking about with the "piece of aluminum to attach underneath the front lip where it meets the car for rigidity...."

that last part is not really needed.
the bottom flap of the lip should sit on top of the stock bumper ridge and screwed in.

For Side Skirts, I just did 2 Rivets in each wheel well. That way they don't rotate. You can rivet them directly to the fender lip, if I recall. The doors will hold the skirt in place, so there's really no need for an unsightly rivet. Pre drill your holes, then paint the holes you make on the body to prevent any rust from forming.

To make the gap look nicer, a bead of white silicone in all the creases will make the kit look like it's molded to the body. Just be careful and don't glob it on. You can follow the caulk gun with a finger to make it look really nice.

PS: The 3M tape has a red plastic backing, but the tape itself is gray.

yeah, that's the right stuff. It should be grey in color and you pull back the red tape/seal to expose to sticky part.

It comes like that from stillen. It's urethane, its not a big deal, you can just unfold it and everything works out fine.

Its not this plastic or fiberglass that everybody seems to think it is...It's urethane and all I had to do was leave it in the sun but I am gonna have to use a heat gun to get it completely right but yeah its nothing bad in fact its one of the best things because u don't have to worry about it craking if u hit something just the paint.

You should get a bigger roll from autozone. It'll save you some coin in the end. That tape is expensive, but for a reason... it's the best stuff out there.

That was the next thing I was about to ask because this was a short piece I came across at wal-mart and is like 4.89 per roll and I know i would need like 7-8 of them to fit the whole car maybe even more, but thanks for the heads up.

Been a while since I have been on here (man I need to change my avatar JPW graduated last year)...just got an email about a PM so when I came to answer that I decided to browse through the messages. Saw this one and figured I would try to help.

I have installed and painted a few of these. What I do on the front corners is put rivets in them (I drill a larger hole slightly in to counter sink the rivet) but you have to put a rivet washer on the other side to keep it from pulling through the plastic bumper (this is a huge pain because of where the washer will go but is doable if you dont mind taking the bumper off. Another thing is to put a screw on the inner part behind the fog light to help hold it in place but the little edge still pokes out some if you do that (most of the time anyway). With the bottom take those rivets out and buy new rivets along with the rivet washers (they will be sold next to the rivets). Push the rivet through, put the washer on the other side and be sure you push up on the washer as you are pulling the rivet so it will not fall off.

If you do that it will not pull off nor will the rivets pull through.
