Probably related to factory amps? or stacker in the boot?
My Max doesnt have it anymore, my Cefiro has a the same harnesses including the one you circled, dunno what its for though, my Ceffy picks up weird CB signals, airport chatter, etc.

Track down a wiring diagram for both stock 89-94 Maxima and that head unit, see what you can find.

I would suggest getting the factory ends for the radio you, if you get it, as well as a stock-to-aftermarket adapter (sosche). that way, any wiring you do won't be in the car. its such a pita.

anyway...
gonna dig a little, see what we can come up with.

Hey Johnno, how did this work out for you? I have a '91 with the Bose system and the head unit is bad (works, but no display). Would love to do what you did and get rid of the Sony 6 disk changer in the trunk. It's a pain in the a**. Please let me know.

its pretty easy... just go to the junk yard and cut out the radio harness of a 95-99 model maxima and either cut ur harness off or splice the wires like i did and use the pics from the link that ima post below to match up. ill post pics tomorrow of how it looks and the map i used... by the way it sounds gooooood!!!!!!!! also I've read that there a male and female harness you can buy so you dont have to do all of that.
