Finally Getting Around to Re-routing my intake infront of the battery..

Well after thinking about this task for a while i finally decided what iw as going to do to get a shorter intake to run infront of the battery instead of behind it... What i did was first take out the battery and unhook the fuse box from the battery box mount... then i cut some of the stock zip ties that were holding the wiring to the car so that the wires would stretch a little further then before.... I then moved and turned the battery box slightly and closer to the wheelwell as seen below.

That made enough room between the radiator and the battery to fit the air filter comfertably. The only cutting of wires i had to do was the MAF sensor connector, There are 3 little wires and 1 big wire... all you have to do is look up closer to the plug and you will see where the 1 BIG wire acually turns into 2 wires when it hooks to the plug so thats where you will make your splice and extend all 5 wires to reach the plug and MAF sensor up to your intake...Here is a pic of fitting in the intake after i mounted up the battery further back in the engine bay...

And after i cut my origional intake all the way down to a 3 inch peice of pipe and hooked up the Filter and MAF sensor with the plug extended and buttend everything up this is what it looks like.....

I think i am the first to accually attempt this short intake infront of the battery and ill tell ya its not a complicated move and i would accually reccomend it... It could be my imagination but i think i can feel a little pick up on bottem end with a shorter intake... If anything it has alot less pipe to get hot and heat up the air before going into the intake..... I like it and ill let you all know next month when i go back up tot he track if it helps 1/4 mile time or not....

haha yea i know sorry about pic size.... i used the uploader.ws and it just blew all the pics up.... but anyway ive modded the intake a few times accually... first when i bought it it went straight up to the fire wall.... then i put a 90 degree elbow on it and put it behind the battery..... then last week right before the test and tune at my local track i took the head light and side marker out and hooked a flex hose to my intake and ran it all the way up to the headlight and i had the filter sticking out of the front.... it accually picked up almost a 10th of a second just running the filter all the way up to the headlight but i was figuring then that my intake was wayyy too long and that im still sucking air through a hot intake pipe so its kind of defeating the purpose..... so then i just ran it up infront but anyway heres some pics of the intake set up i ran at the track last week...and again sorry about the size..

dyam das sum getto stuff.....obviously its gonna make a difference if u stick the filter rite infront of the car all open....but its not worth it u know all the dirt and water gonna mess shyyt up, do something about it to cover that with headlight or u can run that straight under the headlight behind the bumper instead of headlight tho....?

Yea honestly they way i have it now you can easily run an air duct from the fender reinforcement to the filter.... but really i like it now sitting right behind the light instead of behind the fender..... now as for the long intake yea that was some ghetto ****.... but you can't say it wasnt getting enough air then but it looks rigged with out the head light and grill in it so thats y i decided to make a perminate fix....
