... Now I'm trying to remove my air plenum, but it seems the Black RTV has such a great hold so the air plenum that I cannot break the bond.
I've tried padding it with a block of wood and pounding it with a sledge hammer and it still won't budge.
I even stepped into the engine bay and tried pulling straight up on the air plenum.
I'm quite sure I have all the plenum bolts out (counted 11 of them!) so it shouldn't be that I missed a bolt.
Help?

I was initially going to use a wrecking bar and just get any point and just "fulcrum" it off. But as I was shopping for a wrecking bar ($10 for a 24"), I was thinking
"geez, all I really is something with a hook...hmmm"
Then I thought of this!with a few upward thrusts, it popped off! Jubilation ensued
Looking at the RTV that I put there, it didn't seem like much, but as you all know, RTV is some resilent stuff.
Anyway.. time to attack the collector, pull the fuel rails off, and get them injectors DONE!
... just wanted to share
Happy driving!

Engine problems?
Hi i just recently replaced 2 Fuel injectors in my 1990 Nissan Maxima. After replacing 2 fuel injectors, fuel pump, and brake booster, the engine wont 'start". It turns over and will start for say 1 second or 2 then die, and from there will only turn over but not start. I also recently purchased a Duralast battery (2 months old new from autozone) Help?

Hi all, thanks a lot for your nice and kind help. I have a 1998 Maxima GXE. I am doubting that one or more of my Fuel injector is bad I am wondering does anybody has a video or a detail instruction series with photos to change just Fuel injectors (not the rail) for 4th gen maximas ??? I appreciate all your help guys in advance.

Replace just #5 fuel injector WITHOUT taking off plenum?
I know this thread hasn't been active in a while, but I'm hoping someone will see this. I had a dealership tell me I needed to replace #2 and #5 fuel injectors and charged me $800. They said they reduced the labor because they didn't have to remove the plenum. The car runs poorly and I think they didn't want to get into a 17 year old engine's plenum. Is there any way they could replace the #5 without taking off the plenum?

Hi Kiron, I am a learner, but from the chilton's manual, there are self-diagnosis codes in Mode-III for fuel injector issue (45 - Injector Leak, 51 - Injector circuit) But these only apply to the california model. You could try checking the resistance of the injector. They should be between 10-14 ohms which seems to be the valid range. But there could be several other reasons for the engine to run rough. This forum has a lot of good info. Maybe run some searches with specific keywords for the issues you are observing.

I noticed that the link to the tutorial has died. I was able to access it using the Internet Archive "Way Back Machine." It will work for now:
