Well, my dad and I were just out running errands around town, nice spring day, not too hot. We had made about 6 stops before this last one and while we were inside, some guy came in shouting to call the fire department because there was a red car on fire in their parking lot. We looked at each other in disbelief and thought "No, impossible. Not us." Lady behind the counter asks him to repeat himself and he says "call the fire department. There is a red Nissan Maxima on fire in our parking lot."
So come to find out the distributor shorted out somehow and thats what caused the fire. Everything that was plastic on that side of the engine melted. Belts included. Insurance didnt total it out so it was repaired and we put another 20-30K on it. Never messed any internals up. Of course the A/C and heat stunk for a couple months. That was the best damn car we had ever had. Didnt use a DROP of oil nor did it leak a drop. Never had to replace any seals. Nothing. Wish I still had it. Last I knew it was in the Chicago area somewhere.
