Converting to power front seats...

I am going to the junkyard on Tuesday and I was thinking that converting my 93's manual seats to power would be a good idea. I know that the wires are already under the seat, but I wanted to know what parts I need and how difficult it is to do. Has anyone done this?

I did it to my 91 SE and there were no wires to do it so i had a local stereo shop wire it up, and i just stripped the interior of my '94 VE and i didnt see any wires that would make it compatible.

As for the seats in my '91 they work fine and it is a nice luxury to have, not a bad idea if the yard has nice seats.

Just a heads up on the wiring,
Alex

I have a 93 SE that didnt have power seats. I foundsome leathers with power @ the yard and took everything including the bracket. they bolted up and plugged into the existing wiring.

Damn ! sorry about the car. i just saw the pic.

as has been said.. my GXE didn't have the power wiring, but my SE did. I think it's got something to do with the BOSE. (the GXEs that have BOSE also usually have power seats, and they install the wiring harness accordingly.)

don't use the cig lighter for this though. people feed too much stuff off the cig lighter, and the wiring is too small.

for something you're going to use like this, go with something you don't use all the time, or you're not likely to be using at the same time. i.e. the seat fuse is 30A. the rear defrost is 30A as well. it's got a 10 or 12awg wire on it too. tap into that because it's very unlikely you will be using the defroster and power seat at the same time to overload the circuit.

I concur, I know I wired it to the cig lighter out of frustration but its gonna get rewired within the next 2-3 weeks as EVERYTHING is coming out of my interior...got some shorts to find. Now that you seem to know about electrical stuff...any tips on finding shorts?
