Trunk Light - Alarm

If you open the trunk with the key, does the alarm go off? My trunk light does not work and I was thinking that maybe the previous owner disconnected the wiring to keep the alarm from going off when the trunk is opened.

If you leave it open awhile, the alarm should sound. On my 93 maxima that is about 5 minutes.

Now for me on my 94, open the driver door with key and the alarm some times goes off, then you must open trunk to turn alarm off.

That doesn't sound right. Why would it go off after 5 minutes. I am wondering if it is like the alarms on the older Diamante. You had to use the key in the driver or passenger door first to dis-arm. Then you can open the trunk. I am thinking that maybe the previos person purposely disabled the trunk portion. The trunk pop does still work.

my alarm goes off if the trunk or hood are unlatched and left open for more than like 5-10 minutes and the car is locked. or if you try to open the lock doors from the outside by reaching in through a window and pulling the lock up. (only if it has been sitting locked for a bit). I'm sure you can my car and it wouldn't go of through...

everything else works fine. the alarm goes off if u open the doors or trunk without using the key or keypad. i pulled off the liner on the trunk lid and all the wires seem to be intact. where else should i look? where is the sensor for the light? is it a mercury switch?

i went to cut some soundproofing last night and just cut through my trunk light wire like butter....check your wiring, and the switch that activates it when trunk lid is opened? one of these guys should be able to tell you where it is.

factory alarm right?
leave the windows down and lock with key or arm the alarm(i think you have to wait for the security light to stop blinking security like 15 seconds)
then reach in the open window and hit the trunk release button or lever
and see if it works?

The switches can be a bit sticky on these things. It's the little black "ear" hanging off the left side of the boot/trunk latch. Jiggle that and see what your light does. Mine tends to have a mind of its own but once lubricated, it operates normally.
