I wouldnt think you could put an auto in it since you cant put a VE auto on a VG because of the starter/flywheel.

Well the VE auto is the odd man out on the starter, so it's possible that the vg at can reuse its starter since the VE MT uses the same starter.
But it's all a theory until someone tries it.

no if the AT will not work for one it will not work for the other.

The reason it will not work is because the flexplate will not align correctly with the starter. Sure the manuals will work but that is because the flywheels have the same placement and size but the flexplate is another story. When vans tried the VE auto on the VG the starter would not touch the flexplate. That tells me that a VG auto starter will hit the flexplate of the VE and not engage correctly.

But yeah until someone tries it I guess its all theory.

Brian dont you remember Van trying it and the problem he came up with was the VE flex plate has 8 bolts vs VG's 6 or something like that. But its been proven w/o welding you cant do it.

yeah but why would the flexplate of the VG fit the VE trans if the VE flexplate will not fit the VE trans?

THats the question. THe problem is in the flexplate and starter location. If its not going to work on one it will not work on the other IMO.

my thinking is that the VE A/T can't use the VG starter because of bellhousing design. so the VGs Bellhousing may allow use of it.
But as we keep repeating is all theory for now.

yeah but the mounting location on the transmission is in different locations...lets face it theory or not its not going to work...the VG trans sucks so I dont know why we are even talking about it.

sigh

ehem, sry for starting this thread again... but im still not able to make a new thread. Anyways i had my car fixed with a used auto trany (425+250+15 for fluid) anyways i dont think the mechanic changed the filter/cleaned pan.. i think he said that the trany didnt have a pan/filter.. anyways i checked the fluid its clear pink with some dirtyness to it it it because it has new fluid with old filter dirty pan? should i take it somewhere elses imediatly to have them put in a new filter etc..? also about my earlier comment on another thread, the cluncking when i turn the mechanic said its prob the swaybar linkage, he said its totaly gone which may cause a clunking, but when it does i kinda feel it on the stearing wheel.. so what if hes wrong? lol

again sry for extending this thread.
