car runs like crap after it warms up - need advice
So my car will run fine before it warms up. Once it warms up it will idle really bad in drive and sorta feel like its bogging down type symptoms. In neutral, it will idle better. When you gas it it sounds horrible like putt putt putt noises.
When driving the only way to get anywhere really is WOT. but then it still doesnt move like it should.
I pulled ECU codes and i got a 55, so that means normal.
How long has it taken you guys to do a tune up on the VG? my buddy and i will be doing it today hopefully.
should i check fuel pump and filter?
any help would be great!

i do my maintenance every weekend on both my cars. i check all the fluids and electrical stuff. im just gonna take a guess on a few things on ur problem but don't assume im right. check ur O2 sensor wiring. my '93 would loose massive power but it only seemed to happen when it would rain. i thought it could have been my fuel pump in fact it turned out to be my O2 sensor. when i take a look at it, turns out that the wiring on it was destroyed. the damn sensor wasn't even connected but my check engine light didn't come on at all. so check that out and also check for ur coolant temperature sensor. also change ur fuel filter. i did this yesterday to my '89 and when i blew out the gas out of the filter the gas came out looking black. once i changed the filter the car ran a bit better than before. also check ur MAF and ur injectors also check ur plugs and wires as well as ur distributor and rotor. remember i may not be correct on all this but its worth a try.

thanks grnmax, thats what i plan on doing, the filter, O2 and temp sensor checking.
the past few days have sucked and i wanted to drive this car off a cliff.
it doesnt run great when cold, but better than when it warms up.
thanks for the advice....

I would say no on the o2. I drove mine almost 30,000 miles with it disconected, but you may try unpluging it to see just in case. Ok my gues would be bad spark plug wire. or may be some type of vacum leak. Rember things dont leak as bad itill they are warm and soft. My car had a bad wire and would realy run ****ty after it was warm and I put a load on the engine.

yeah it does. hopefully the tune up will take care of my problem.
on my list is: ngk plugs and wires, distributor, fuel filter and pcv valve. if that doesnt fix it, ill also get an O2 sensor. if that doesnt get it, then ill blow the car up
thanks everyone for your input.

update
here is an update:
replaced the spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, fuel filter.
the old plugs didnt have much of a conductor left. I went with the V-power because they didnt have the regular NGK plugs.
car runs great now! thanks for your guys advice. cost $100 and now my car feels like $101 haha. big thanks to SEmy2K2go for helping and giving up his garage
