Lowerd maxima + running over brick at 45mph = UH OH!

Well i was just on my way home, and i wish i had passed this guy erlier so i could have seen the brick.
Well the guy was driving a range rover, so of course he didnt swerve cus he had no clearance issues. but when he went over it, i hit it and it made my car somewhat get air. I dont know where it hit, its WAY to dark to see.
what should I look for in the morning damage wise? it hit it hard i was doing about 45mph, and my car is lowerd 1.75inches

im kinda worried, it hit sooooooooo hard, and well, it sounded like i hit a brick wall! very scarry sound, luckily i was only within a quater of a mile from my house.

the max is in the yard now, resting. So anyone think i could have screwd something up?

jack the car up and check tomarrow , hopefully you didn't catch your oil pan, that could be a nice disaster.

You didn't ask that. You only really wanted simpathetic attention. Anyone a bit more ***** would of grabbed a flashlight and took a look.

...Instead of comming on here and said somthing like "m kinda worried, it hit sooooooooo hard, and well, it sounded like i hit a brick wall! very scarry sound"

Any damage done externally, is be.... quess what, visible. It was road dibree... Not cancer.

Check your muffler bearings ASAP. Never know what the brick may have gotten to.

you should be alright if it hit the xmember, I figured thats what you would've hit. Anyway, just make sure you check your oil levels and radiator fluid for the next few days. I remember I hydroplaned and curbed my max last summer and the car was perfectly driveable, but the radiator cracked from impact and leaked out and my only warning was the dash light the next day after a 30 minute drive. Also, listen for clunks and rattles in the front, old rubber bushings like motor mounts dont like heavy, direct impacts.

Really, there are a couple of dozen things it could have hit/damaged. You didn't say anything was disastrous after you hit it (pulling hard, fluids leaking, scraping noises).

Just take some pics and fill us in. Don't ask what we think might have happened. That is kind of pointless and why everyone is giving you crap.

i've done that before, hit my transmition fluid pan on my old max, thought it was my oil pan at first till we looked harder and it was redish. just some JB weld fixed it though, just pray nothing got hurt

thanks guys, i think she is goin to be ok.
im thinking of maybe fabricating a scrape plate or something to protect the underside of the car, ive heard of it being possible and people making them.
would be extra weight, but also would give some extra protection!

I would like to make a plate like that as well some time. I've got a pretty good size dent in my oil pan from something like that. Hit an unusually tall filler cap for the underground tank at a gas station because I was going too fast. Then I tried teaching my girlfriend to drive my car and she ran over a short pipe sticking up out of the ground in some huge parking lot.

My Xmember is scratched to hell, I hit it on just about everything.

skid plates for the max?

sounds like that kid a year ago wanting "roo bars"
which we later found out meant kangaroo bars, and he wanted to use them to push shopping carts out of the way instead of getting his lazy *** outside.

its a good idea i guess, just not for me.

working on land rovers skid plater are very common.
heres what sucks
yes they add lots of weight but to a range rover stock weighting 4600 lbs. 300 lbs of steel isnt a worry.

Working on a car with skid plates suck
leaves and dirt all pile up there and its a mess.

but becuase of the added protection. its worth doing if you're off roading.

hey what aoubt making rails for the car. like a pipe that conformed to the subframe and if you went over somthing like a speed bump. it would scrape that insetead.
nah thats not to good. of an idea.

just go slow?

All I can say is jack it up and search under the car 2 square ft at a time very carefully, put carboard under the car and see if its leaking and where from. If jacking it up wont help much, go get a free estimates for a muffler or brakes and it'll give ya at least 5 min of inspection time up high so you can look closer and more comfortably. I feel bad for shops cuz thats usually my solution for everything get an estimate thats why I think most places are charging for estimates now.

Ok, I see how everyone was responding crap but I have a feeling I'm gonna get crap for asking this..but I see everyone saying it. Wtf is IBTL? Its 4:25am and my brain hurts but I wanna know what it means. if you're gonna flame for that go FFFF yourself

Do you have a dirt driveway? From the way you described it, it sounds as if it hit a little to the right, in which case you might want to check the rotator splint.
