Wheel Bearings?

I have had this deep winding road noise coming from my front passenger floor panel(inside the car) for about 8 months. I have 17” rim(for about 5 years) and I thought that my tire was making the loud road noise coming from the floor panel/wheel well . I recently got new tires and the noise is still the same. Could It be my wheel bearings? Does anybody know what are the symptoms of a bad wheel bearing or had similar experience with loud noises coming from the wheel well and hearing it inside the car.

not in the case of a nissan. they use a wheel bearing that's pressed into the spindle and over the wheel hub. it doesn't come off when you do the brakes. you get nowhere near the wheel bearings when you do brakes..

replacing them on this car is a little more complicated and requires a hydraulic press. not much fun.

I changed one myself on the front passenger side....Of course I had the ability to gain access to a press....its a real pain to try without it. The sound I had was it sounded like there was gravel rolling around in my wheel. When I pulled it out it pretty much was disinigrated...I had to got chasing the other ball bearing around the shop. I had the problem of one of bolts not wanting to come off the knuckle so I ended up pulling the whole strut off.

Just replace the whole spindle, its half the time and half the money. Plus your hub could be bad which can make your bearings go bad faster. Ive replaced mine thrice already. GRRRRR

Ewwwww. bend over.

Obeewon, you can buy a used spindle from a junkyard for half the money, but realize that car may have anywhere from 90 to 300k miles on it, and the bearings pronably aren't in much better condition than yours are. that's the chance you take with junkyard parts. I bought three spindles from junkyards in a year before I finally just broke down and bought two new wheel bearings and hubs..

Matt...roughly how much do new front wheel bearings cost? Although my car's still warrantied, I suspect they'll give me a hard time because I'm not (slightly) lowered (even though the noise was there beforehand and I never got it taken car of).
