Finding the Right Cold Air Intake

Alright guys, i've got a 93 Maxima SE VG30DE and am looking for a Cold Air intake that is best fit and provides the best output performance wise for the car. Plus i think it will help with some of the engine idling and driving issues i've got with the car.

Any suggestions?

There are about 3 brands available.

Cattman sells the Place Racing type
Warpspeed sells essentially the same thing
You can find a knock off on ebay
Or I can maybe build you a custom one. You live in Bellevue Wa. I live in the same area.

I'd go with a custom Jeffy if I had the money and was in his area.

I'd get the cheapest one, which would be the Ebay knockoff. Place racing's is way too expensive. I own one, but bought it before the Ebay ones came around, and WSP's were out of stock for months. If I had to do it again, I'd just get the Ebay one. I don't know the pricing for Jeff's, so it might be worthwhile since you don't have to cut into the fender. But the placeracing is overpriced, IMHO. They're all just 2 pipes, a filter and some couplers.

How much would you want for a intake setup like yours? I like the look of it and I dont want to cut into my fender.

Chuck. Right now I happen to have ONE maf adaptor left. I can fabricate another section of silver pipe you see there. Plus I can provide the black couplers/clamps. All that will cost you about $120 shipped. But you will need to buy your own K&N filter. Which will run about $35 shipped from Cobymoby (he's on this board). Or maybe you and find one on ebay (make sure it's a quality K&N or S&B and not that generic cone filter crap)

If I make another one, it WON'T look exactly like the picture as that one is made from spare tubing I had. The small coupling you see next to the battery might be moved forward a bit to make removing the filter element easier. And that large coupling going to the maf will probably be smaller. Just small things to improve the design.

I was going to suggest the route I took, but I realize that you have a VE engine and not a VG.

I really want one for my 92se. I wonder if this ebay knockoff would be any good:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=38634

I dont want to drill a hole for it also, so is their any cold air intake that you dont have to drill?

the hole is what makes it a CAI (cold air intake)
if the filter is in the engine bay, it wont be pulling cold air so that's why you have to drill to get the filter into the wheel well area

Jeff's design puts the filter right behind the headlight though and seems like a good idea

There is a bit of cutting of the bracket that holds the oem intake snorkel but it's like 3 min of cutting and no one would ever see it.
