Nissan decided that the VG filter (15208-55Y00) would be suitable for all V6 3-gens. But as you know the VE filter also shared it's application with all Nissans using the VTC type intake cam sprockets.

Napa has VE30DE oil filters as well, ive worked on VE's at work and weve had them in stock. cant remember the part number on them off the top of my head

FL-1A motorcraft fits perfect, and filter is large holding a quart. Has a silicone anti drain back valve as well. The smaller FL-400S works as well, or the short version of the fl-1a, forgot motor craft number, bit cross reference frams ph16

FYI, The Bosch 3400 filter works just fine - no valve adjuster noise even when running 5W-30 oil.
