New paint

What should I expect to pay to repaint my max the same color. I haven't had time to go to the body shop and I would like to know what to look for so i don't get screwed.

anywhere from 250 (or whatever their price is) for those earl shibe (sp) places to 2 or 3 thousand for a high end place. A lot of it depends on location.

Just take it to some reputable shops around and get some quotes.

just noticed the other post you just did.

I am no expert on wheels but it looks like that offset with that width should fit. It may be close to the outside edge a little and you may be limited on the width of the tire but it should fit.

I would post that in its own thread though before you take my advice on the wheels since I get confused with the offset thing (I am used to back spacing) because someone that knows about offset may not read a thread about paint prices.

at least $1500 for something decent probably closer to $2500 though. get a few quotes and make sure the paint is garenteed for life.

When talking with shops ask them what paint they use. If they use PPG paints, all the paint above the Omni line (that is the cheapest kind) have a lifetime warranty. My brother used to work for PPG and he told me that all of the shops that are authorized PPG painters have to honor the warranty.

If you are pretty low on funds, I have heard of some people doing lots of prep work themselves, then having Earl Scheib or Maaco just shooting their cars. Of course, it won't be show quality, but it will probably be $1,000 less.

Are these the wheels you are talking about?

Lophix had these wheels on his car before he parted it out. You might ask him if he needed spacers or whatnot.

How bad is your paint now? Sadly, a good paint job seems to cost a decent amount of money. Part of the problem, is you need a good prep-sanding the surface, etc. If you are low on funds, and want a good job, your best bet is to do all the prep yourself and do a good job at it.

bottom line with paint is you will always get what you pay for, unless you know someone but there supplys will probably be twice of what a whole macco job would cost.
