i found something cool, need advice

just found a 95 Q45 for 7000, to me it sounds too cheap, do infinity's not hold value or is this a bargain? i havent driven it yet, but i went to the dealer on sunday and took a quick look at the car. its pretty nice, all power/ leather. i know i should post this in the infinity forums but...

also, im finding it impossible to find a maxima thats a 5spd/ or six. i spoke to the local dealer and he said that a standard equipped max was something ordered from the factory. i just found out that i am keeping my job past the season, so i really want to get a newer car, preferably a max, but i will settle for any other nissan.

A buddy of mine got his Q for about that much, I think around the same year also. He's a member on here (I think he's DubbedQ45, he doesnt post much), and the car was in real nice condition when he bought it. I'm not sure why it's so cheap...

I own an Infiniti QX4 and I admit that they don't hold their value. Mine was only 3 years old with 30k (it seems brand new) and I bought it for less than $20k, which was just over 1/2 of the original sticker. I don't know why that is. Actually, most Nissans don't hold their value as well as Honduhs and Toyotas, but seem to be better than most domestics.

Kelly Blue Book shows an average RETAIL price of $7855. Private party sale would be closer to $5560. Try to stay away from one with Active suspension if you can. They are VERY pricy to repair/replace.

Were there Q45's with a stick? If you can live with an auto in a Q45 you can live with an auto in a Max. You can find a newer Max for that same $7K. I've seen several 99's and a couple 2K's in REAL sweet shape for that kind of money. Q45 is a sweet ride though.

i have to admit, i like driving an auto, especially when i work late, but it gets boring. does anyone know if the newer max's with auto tranny had the l,2,3,d or is it just the same as l,2,d coz if they have more step up shifts then that would be better, i mostly do city driving so i could make that fun.

im about to go out and start looking properly for a good 4th/5th gen at a reasonable price. but if i find another oh so precious 92-94 se 5 spd, ill settle for that. right now i can afford a payment of up to 300 a month, so i should be able to get something pimp

go to the nissan site. I think it has an auto can have that option to change gears automatically or when you want it to, with the push of a button.

Rear wheel drive cars seem to lose their values faster than FWD cars, especially in the snowbelt, maybe less true in texas though. Infiniti I30s hold value better than J30s and Q45s. I think most used buyers just want a fwd car. Any lux car eventually is worth nothing, because the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th owner is not financially able to pay a ton of money for a car (otherwise they would buy new) and banks can't offer huge loans on old cars. So the depreciation game pays off for those 2nd, 3rd, etc. owners. The early Q45s, probably 90-91 had some type of plastic gear in one of the timing mechanisms that could break unless updated with a metal piece. They probably fixed that by your model year, but check to be certain. That and the active suspension are all that I have ever heard, but then again I don't look much for Infiniti info. I'd check an infiniti board and find out what goes wrong. Still, I'd really look at a Maxima instead.
