I got a Stillen short throw shifter.

Well a while ago I posted asking about short shifters and wasn't sure what would be best for me. Well last night I was hanging out at my friends house and he came out and gave me an early christmas gift.....stillen short throw shifter. The quality of the shifter looks great and the spacing for the shifts seems to be very tight. When I install I'll write a review on it but I just wanted some feedback from the people who have the stillen short throw shifter. I appreciate all responses.

Thanks,
Diego

yaaaay! our cars are even more twin-ish

I just installed a SMC shifter a friend gave me ()

I didnt adjust it at all, I just left it at where it was when I got it. At first I didnt really like it, but now I'm used to it. I was having troubles finding the gears at first, now its pretty easy. The height is good too, and it made the tranny feel much tighter. I also made a new shift boot (well my Mom helped )because my stock one was really really bad (burned and such).

Again, Sweet!! Now I just need some HIDs and wheels like yours (but i cant do that because of 300zx brakes )

Thanks twin . Yeah I am really looking forward to putting this on and on the same day i'll be putting the BlemCo. Stage II lower tie bar so hopefully its a good day with mods and stuff. So probably next sunday i'll be going to the shop to have those things installed and having an oil change. thanks for the positive feedback on your short throw shifter once again.

If you want a new shift boot, now is the time to replace it aswell!

I'm not sure if you can tell or not, but heres what mine looks like from the side:
http://mrgone.homeip.net/images/92Ma...t/PC140392.jpg

Heres one more of the boot:
http://mrgone.homeip.net/images/92Ma...t/PC140388.jpg
It's kind of big though, and we made it 1" shofter than stock lol. no biggy though its better than having the cover boot thing over my stock one (my stock one was in really really bad shape as I was saying).

Dont mean to go OT in your thread, but I feel like working on my car today, so I'm probably going to replace the fuel filter, reseal the valve cover (I think its leaking some oil), and I might swap intake manifolds for my old auto one (I need to find some porting drums ).

Yes I am very fortunate to have friends like that, they always take care of me but I do give back also. Well my shift boot is practically new, I condition it and there are no cracks and stuff. If the bag looks weird then I'll look into having you Mr. Gone making me a bag .

yea i know the shortest setting is too hard to shift it literally shifts it TOO FAST the tranny grinds it dosent have a chance to syncro so where i have it is perfect, oh and it dosent rest on the cat thanks to my hammer...j/k it sits right above it

Well here's the thing the short throw shifter doesn't look like it has adjustments its only going to work one way. Like I don't think there is a height setting its just a throw adjuster, well i'll take pics of comparing the stock unit with the new unit and take pics of the new unit in the car comparing it to the old shifter unit in the car.

Gjohnson, Jason knows who's boss when it comes to our cars

My stillen shifter was no shorter in height then the stock one but there is 2 inch drop in the shift throw. The stock shifter is 5 inches the stillen is 3 inches. For a test i cut my stock down about 3inches and i love it! Im gunna do the same to my Stillen sooner or later.

I might have, just slightly done a small burn out and chirpped 1-2 with a friend in the car when I had under 50 miles on the clutch (I think, I cant remember the exact mileage). It never slipped at all during the break in.

Yea we're the guys with the messed up pressure plate, I still point my finger at Jeff . Anywayz yea I think Jason and Izzy have a good judgement of when its time to mess around with a clutch, not like take a 3rd gen with a new clutch in it and grind while shifting!
