Funky noise coming from stock bose system (w/radio on)
The end of this month i'm getting an 89 se, and the guy who im buying this sweet ride from says that with the Hu on, he can hear the shifting thru the speaker, now I really dont know why the hell this happens and i'm going to buy an aftermarket hu anyway but for right now does anyone know what this problem might be due to and how to fix this?

i agree with harrymay...sooner or later...hopefully sooner...you'll realize that the bose system in there is crap...not because it sucks...because its very old and outdated technology....get it all aftermarket

its could be your alternator also. also could be a bad ground but if its a hun that goes with the rpms of the engine then its probably a bad alternator becuase when the alternator is going bad it lets ac current in to the electrical system and can cause a hun in a radio and such. i would get your alternator check also just to be safe. if you do go to get it checked then ask them to test ac leakage out of your alternator you shouldnt have more than .5 volts of ac current out of your alternator system. and if you do then you have to get your alternator check, plus if you let it go and it is your alternator then you can also have computer problems becuase computers and ac current dont get along if you get what i mean. so i would get your alternator checked. but the ground could be the problem too..

well its prolly a ground, whenever i had no system in there, i tried to use a cd player and some computer speakers, the computer speakers were dc and went into my lighter outlet, the speakers hummed whenever the car was revved.
then again id say check the alternator too, after a long time of use, those things can go bad, so id get it checked.

I have a smimilar problem - noise on the stock radio that matches the engine revs. Is it possible to check the alternator myself, or do I really have to take it to someone? And how much is it going to cost to check it (or should they do it for free?)
Also, I don't quite understand the "bad ground" concept. If it's a bad ground causing this problem, does that mean that the radio/speakers aren't properly grounded, or that some other engine component isn't properly grounded? And if it's an engine component, doesn't that mean it'd be a huge pain in the backend to find something like that?
Final question...If I replace the deck with something aftermarket, will my new deck suffer from the same noise problems?
