New Worst ! How is this possible ? All time low !

Well it was one of those days that if you could have seen into the future you would have stayed your butt at home. Made a two day trip and lots of plans to race at a newly built dragway that is still under construction.

it rained off an on, and we had about 300 cars at the event. I got one run in from 8:30am and finally gave up and left around 5:30 pm.

My only run was nutty and really caught me off guard, I staged and we were set for the countdown, a big gust of wind blew my whole car backwards, then at the same time the lights started counting down, redlight popped up for me so i stopped the car watched the other guys light and took off with him, the car felt pretty good, the torque monster VQ made some good power off the line, squealing, and chirping second. managed to stay ahead of a big v8 grunter and win the race, minus the retarded redlight i got thanks to the wind.

got my timeslip and it was crazy

reaction time: 0.00
60 foot: 4.5
1/4 mile 17.00 seconds

i guess when you redlight the time is messed up, i have seen it display a time, or be all 000 in each section, I still wonder though if I really ran a 17 ? if i did this had to be a record for a 4th gen for slowest 1/4 mile pass, personally i think the slip is just all messed up, but dont know ?

with a manual what techniques be used ahead of time if you suspect the wind is strong enough to blow you backwards ? any ideas, theories ?

Keep the ebrake on until the last second or don't race in hurricanes lol.

Anyways I've got a slower timeslip from my first run ever though I don't often have reason to mention it. For the record it wasn't my fault someone had dumped fluid of some sort on the track ahead of me, I pulled a decent 60' 2.22 if my memory serves me correctly, definately on my way to my first 14 second pass but as I hit 3rd gear I hit this liquid and the tires spun to redline so I let off and ended up with a 17.x.

I have a timeslip that reads 16.544@103.99. Brainfart, happens sometimes.

Maybe the timing system is not setup properly yet.

Don't sweat it man. You probably didn't run a 17... likely just timing screw up. Unless of course that headwind really was that strong... lol

Sucks to go to all that effort for 1 pass though...

maybe the timing was screwed up when you ran the 14...

jk....now if you beat someone, always have that slip, so you can say "you just got beat by a 17 second car!"

I don't think anyone will beat my 30.xx @ 29.xx mph.

Unless your TPS pops off.

you broke 2nd the beam and waited, thus time added to slip. deep staging will break the 1st beam but not start the clock. once you make the 2nd light go out you start the clock.

yeah, what JSutter said..
As soon as the red light goes up, the timer in your lane starts counting. so you waited several seconds for the other guys' light then took off...

had you left when you started rolling, the time would have been accurate..

I have a video of me running 18.73. I did my burnout and failed to realize that I was stuck in 3rd gear (fail safe mode). As soon as I realized it was in 3rd gear, I let off a lot just so my engine load wouldn't be too high and I just rode out the 1/4 mile.

Talk about embarassing. I was lined up next to an S2000 that I could have beaten if I just ran my average time of the night and cut a normal .550-.570 light.
