My car runs worse after cleaning EGR valve!?
Thanks for looking!
I recently replaced my spark plugs (with Nissan parts plugs) and also dismantled and cleaned my EGR valve, because my car failed the NO2 aircare testing, in my 92 Maxima V6 SOHC.
Now, however, I've noticed the idle acting strangely--when I slow down for a traffic light, the engine RPM's seems to drop very quickly into the idle, dipping to about 500rmps, then settling around 700rpm's. The engine sounds like it might stall, but doesn't. My gas mileage is noticable worse now as well.
Any ideas what this could be?
Much appreciated.

TB cleaner.....
Used throttle body cleaner and replaced with new gaskets. But did notice that afterwards when I disconnected the vac hose, there was no change...the engine continued to run smoothly.
Thanks

Ok, it sounds like you have the same problem I did -- the vacuum source that opens and closes the EGR valve is bad. It could either be the EGRC solenoid, or the vacuum port itself. Also, if the EGR valve isn't opening at all, it shouldn't cause the idle problems you are having. I wish you good luck. Start checking any and all vacuum hoses for cracks or leaks. I don't own a VG so I can't get more specific than that, sorry.

HEY. Know this is an old thread but this seems similar to a problem I JUST got today while driving down the highway.
I came to a toll and as I slowed down the car started to chug and I thought it was going to cut out. This continued a tiny bit after I accelerated away. Once I got to about 65 though it did NOT happen anymore. It was only after I started to slow down again that the problem reoccured.
I haven't touched anything on the car. Could this be some bad vaccum line? How can I find out and is it simple to replace?
This is for a 93 max

you ever heard of *DO NOT CLEAN INTAKE MANIFOLD* ?... i tyhink some IM's say that but anyways
since you cleaned it with that stuff... the sensors are probably not registering the correct air / fuel crap... i know its the EGR and stuff but thats probably why its running bad... its the computer maybe
reason why im telling you this is because my friend did this to his and it ran bad it'll just take time and clean itself out of all the cleaner you used then it might run propely after that hope im right
