Is it bad to mix windshield washer fluid?

Title says it all. I don't know what brand Nissan dealers put in the reservoir and I'm thinking of buying some generic fluid from GI Joe's or Schuck's or autozone.

It's windshield washer fluid, what can go wrong? Unless you put motor oil or something like that in there you should be fine.

If you mix, you will blow the washer fluid exhaust seals.

Didn't you know??? Mixing your washer fluid is good for another 15whp!!!! Plus is make your blinker fluid system work much more efficiently!

Just don't blow out your washer fluid exhaust seals like Jeff said.

Rain-X? As in the wiper fluid/de-icer made by them or the windshield rain repelant?

What got messed up exactly?

I dunno bout you, but I've never had problem with the any of the rain-x products myself. Kinda interesting to see why your having an issue.

There is nothing wrong with mixing with the windsheild fluid washer. it's just mostly cleaner blue stuff. That's all.

What viscosity/weight are you guys using for washer fluid? I am thinking of changing to a 5w20 to wipe off all those extra **** stains on my windshield.

Run the washer fluid hose from the resivoir to the intake manifold and duct tape somewhere on there...NOW, when ever you squirt, the methanol in the fluid will give an extra 75whp....sort of like a shot of NX!!!....

But don't mix, 'cause then in the cold the lines will be more prone to freezing up....

Rewire the hose to go to your mouth and fill with liquor; I read about some one who did this mod. Should get about .4 BAC.

I'm not a big fan of rain-x except in hard rain. I find if it's raining lightly or misting then I think rain-x makes it harder to see.

j/k but really there shouldn't be any problems, unless you mix washer-fluid w/ other fluids like coolant or brake fluid or whatever, then there's a problem

OK guys for a dozen years I've been mixing all types of washer fluid in my Max and there are no ill effects. The $1.00 a bottle stuff is just fine.

The only exception that I can think of is possibly the rain-x washer fluid product. I think that the complex chemical formula that they use so effectively to shed rain from the windshield wiil leave a tint or residue if you stop using it once you start. A relative who runs the parts dept of a Jag dealership told me that he's had complaints from folks who apply it to the windshield several times and then stop. HOWEVER I don't know if their washer fluid product is the same as the regular product that you apply to your windshield.

Has anyone here who uses rain-x stoped using it? Have you experienced any problems?

Seriously, I like Prestone washer fluid in the winter since it can be used to defrost the windshield and doesnt freeze on it, like the generic blue stuff. The generic blue stuff is ok in the summer though.

Anybody got a hook up for JDM blue washer fluid? My Maxima isn't running as well with US domestic market fluid.
