i would even do 16x8s on the rear with some 185/55s or somthing, i wouldnt do any rims bigger than 16 though

heres pics with the 185/75s

and how it sits now with 175/65s in the back 195/60 front

it would probably look nice with the 240z Fairlady fender mirrors. but this way its free! haha and the stock mirrors fit the body lines perfect so i just went with it

oh yeah, and make sure your tension rods up front aren't trying to slot themselves after 1500 miles of being slammed, they don't take too kindly to being low low, the geometry is all ****ed when lower than stock >1 inch. don't want one of them ***** coming loose at 70 mph like mine did. other than that, you 2 guys have some sexy lowered maximas (but I did beat you to it!!!). I wish I still had mine, but I'm loving my z31 now.

it's an 87' NA, 2 seater, t-tops, black / blue cloth interior, 5MT. it does have the turbo trans and CLSD rear out of a shiro special. 220k miles and still going strong. I have a bunch of maintenance in it to keep it going: starter, alternator, front main seal, timing belt, water pump, thermostat, rear wiring harness, z32 fuel filter, ngk plugs + accel yellow wires, sleepy eye headlight mod, wheel bearings all around, wheel studs, new MAF, autozone intake kit LOL, radiator, all cooling system hoses, all belts, ball joints, tie rods, brembo BBK kit up front, HID kit with some crap *** REALLY BLUE bulbs that I'm hating right now, tokico strut and spring kit, all clutch hydrualics replaced, z32 / q45 brake master cylinder, steel braided brake lines, recovered door panels, custom home-made shift boot, jvc head unit, 4 alpine 6'' speakers, 10'' alpine sub, kenwood 300w amp.

sectioned strut tubes, vw rabbit inserts, and custom wound springs with custom fab. spring perches / seats coming soon for a nice SLAM.

oh and I have some jeep steel wheels I pulled out of the junkyard for $50 that are 17x9 -30

No, it wouldn't look right with a 2nd gen. 1st gen can pull it off, but it would just look bad on a 2nd.

No. The 280Z (1975-1978) suspension will NOT work on a 1st Gen Maxima. However, the 280ZX (1979-1983) suspension is almost exactly the same. It was the first "shared" platform and is why so many 1st Gen Z purists don't like the 280ZX because it gave up the very effective 1st Gen Z suspension for the "Maxima" suspension.

The good news is with the exception of the Max wagon, most suspension & brake mods for the 280ZX will work perfectly on the 1st Gen Max.

BTW,nice Maxi's.
