My dream to own a 1st gen

I have seen a ton of you on here and have wondered why you havent built one of these cars the way drifters do with cressida's. My car will be paid off in a year, but in the mean time im going to buy parts for my future 81 5spd maxima.

Cant decide what swap im gunna do, a RB26DETT or a 1j. but this car is gunna be low fast and vary japanise VIP. Oh and im going to fit the kit off a cressida onto it. My friend is a fiber glass master and says it will be easy.

Here is a pic of a cressida I want my max to look like. (this is my friends car)

Here is the link to more pictures of my idea.

I don't think VIP and a 1st gen Maxima would look that good. Not unless you can get a Bluebird clip or something. I rather go VIP with a Q45 or M45.

Both those cars are alot of money and you cant swap um. Im going to drift this car. See what im going for is the old school japanise VIP. Its a different look and thats what I want. Im sick of seeing the same cars on the road/track.

Here is a old school VIP car.

Check the bluebirds sites like aussiebluebirds.com.

The bluebird came with much cooler front end treatments though you would have to have the parts sent from overseas from either australia or possibly japan though australia has the most available cars.

Much of the stuff bolts right on.

280zx stuff will fit back there.

The replacement shocks are the same part number for both the maxima and the zx from most manufacturers.

That doesn't mean the spring length isn't different and fitting 280zx lowering springs like suspension techniques won't result in a car either way too low or....possibly higher than stock.......best to do the research at the junkyard.

The control arms for the 280zx have the mounting point for the strut 1 inch different but I don't remember if it's 1 inch higher or lower.

Either way........the control arms for the maxima have positive camber at stock ride height (strange but true) so they are better starting points if you plan to lower the car but something like filling the gas tank lowers the car plenty in stock trim.

I go to the wrecking yards with a tape measure first and I also check parts catalogs for suspension parts to see which parts have the same part number between 280zx and maxima.
