88 Maxima fuel tank

Does anyone happen to know if there is a real difference between the fuel tanks for analog and digital fuel gauges for the 88 Maxima? I have an 88 with the digital, and have run into a wall with suppliers since they only seem to have analog tanks. The manual shows one tank and two different pumps, so it's not clear if the tank is different or not. I haven't yet determined if the problem is a leaking tank yet -- I'm hoping it's a connecting hose that can be easily replaced -- but I thought I'd check into various options in preparation. If anyone has experienced a similar leak, I'd be interested to hear about it -- seems to be coming from the driver's side of the tank. Cheers.

nope theyre different on the inside. the digital one has 2 extra tabs inside it to hold the FSU (fuel sending unit<---looks like a soda can with wires coming out of the top). the non digital one has no tabs. the pumps are the same but the carrages are diff the non digital one has the lil floatey thing on it and the digital one dosent.

Thanks for the info -- very helpful. I worked on the leak last weekend. It turned out to be the gas line from the pump to the engine. It had rusted through about 8 inches beyond the connection to the rubber hose near the fuel tank -- hence the uncertainty about the source of the leak. Anyway, I cut out the offending piece and spliced in a new piece -- not a lot of room to manoeuvre in there, and the clamps holding the various fuel and other lines are a bit of a pain. I ended up separating the repaired line from the rest and routed it outside the last two clamps, with a buffer made from styrofoam to keep it from banging on the tank or subframe. No leak and car runs fine.

Hi my name is Ali, I own A 88 maxima I bought about six months ago and i have not enjoyed it like i enjoyed my 87 , the 88 is a five speed , but there is something no right about this car, I keep getting trouble code 22 wich is fuel pump circut open and 23 throttle position swich but i have replaced both 3 times and im I still getting the same code, question is is there a different between the 87-88 and 85,86,89 and up, my alldata is telling me to test the Tps for ohms in the bottom prungs, it said i should get o ohms when fully closed but I only get the 0 ohms in the upper prungs so i think its either a wrong parts or something, Reason My car is running Realy rough I changed plugs wires, Fuel pump, tps,I am going for o2 sensor and also CHTS,Fuel Pressure Regulator and IT's Temperture sensor also If Anyone had experianced this problem I would Realy Appreciate you help thanks,
