My 2nd gen was good on gas. I think it was better than my 4th gen. Of course the 4th gen has more mods but I liked it and miss it very much. The mileage on the first one isnt bad. I sold my old 2nd gen with 216k miles on it for 1600. The 85 you are getting is tipping 217k miles. Those are great buys of course but it depends on the condition of those cars. Do you have any pics of them?

does your 3rd have a vg or ve if it's a vg it's the same drive train for the most part, as far as gas it will be about the same as you 3rd like real high 20s for highway. the price seem good if the bodys are in decent shape. anyways nice find and I hope it all works out for you. Nissan did a great job on these cars and it's good to see more people taken care of them.

My 86 SE 5-speed used to average about 29mpg highway. When the tranny went south and I put a 3rd gen one is, that average went down to about 27-28mpg highway because 5th gear wasn't as tall. City driving you can get low to mid 20's if you have a light right foot. They will get as bad as 16-18 if you are on it everywhere you go.

Need some advise

So i got myself into a rough situation. I stopped and jump started a stranded motorist, Upon his disconnecting the jumper he hit the positive and negative cables together. The car promptly died, it starts and runs for about 3 mins. Any help on this? I have ordered a new ECM and am waiting on its arrival. Is this the most likely to fix my problems?

So slow on this forum that we're talking about 3rd Gens

It has gotten so slow on this forum that the leading topic is more about a 3rd gen than a 1 or 2 gen. It is getting so that everyone talks about the 1st or 2nd gen they USED to own, not the one they currently own. Sad.

Well what do you expect? 1st gens quickly approaching 30 years old, the oldest 2nd gen is 20 year old. Yeah I talk about the one I used to own...but it's not worth it for me to buy another 2nd gen. At least I contribute my experience for someone that finds it's worth having a 1st or 2nd gen. Nothing sad about that. 1st and 2nd gens are unfortunately a dying breed. Get over yourself.

ummmm the oldest 2nd gen is more like 23 or like mine was made in 9-84 but you have to love the cars that nissan made when they were more into racing.

I never see any 2nd gens in my area. Never. There is 1 clean 1st gen running around and that's it. None in the yards either.

he said first gens, i think he might be confused though because he says hes lucky to have one but his name is something 1987 which would be a seccond gen.

either way i am still trying to find a first.

How does that make any sense? 87 and 88 are identical. I think if you compare auto to manual...manuals would get better mileage.
