My 87 two tone repainted.
Going back to the paint shop, added new bumpers that were primered and the shop did not sand them. Thus the different color grey on the bumpers.

It was a cheap job from Earl Schieb. The 450.00 6 year warranty was on sale for 350.00. Did not want any body work done since im only keeping the car for a 1 year. But its going back friday for the redo on the bumpers.

You mean this "T"?

Works great on the L24 but have a f54 with p90 head and the complete engine management system out of a 7mgte supra that runs 420cc injectors stock and will pass emissions.

Stock exhaust from headers to cat. 2.5" piping from catback. Magnaflow muffler.

Yes it is off. Did not realize until later. Was going to fix it, but said the heck with it. The back end driver side is bent down a bit. Thanks for the compliment on the paint, in fact I took it back and they repainted the whole car. (I'LL post the pic today.) The new management told me they ran out of paint the first time and tried to mix something up, thus why my bumpers did not match and the car did not shine. Tried to scam me.

Heres the thing, I got this car for my mother-in-law. I owned a 96 Civic, sold that on a Monday, was planing on driving my 69 chevy truck for a week or two, then the trans died on me. So I start driving the Maxima and decided to clean it up a bit. To repair that quarter panel would cost me around 800.00 alone. So I felt I could live with it. Car rides good and when looking from behind, the car is straight, so what the heck.

I believe he used a kit from a Taurus for that. It's definately a cool mod, but placement is a little on the sucky side (if you put it in the stock EQ place, it'll block your stereo.

how fast are the turbo 2.0L's? Have you ever run it at the track? I would love to have one but they are not available here.

Nice pictures

Very nice car. The turbo engine looks to be in great condition.
Have any shots of the interior?

It seems the turbo and 5 speed coupled with 215/50s take about 2 seconds off the quarter mile time.

This is with a 277,000 mile engine on a 50,000 tune up that falls on it's face at 5,000 rpms.

I'm sure it would have gone a bit faster with the 3.73 or a 3.90 diff. rather than the R200 that had 3.54 in it though the top speed in 4th (5 speed) is about 125mph.

I am using the super skinny diameter stock exhaust with catalytic convertor but cut it off just after the turn down after it passes over the rear crossmember.

The engine just has a 280zx turbo intake and exhaust manifolds on the stock high mileage engine with stock maxima injectors but I did use a 1982 280zx non-turbo ecu and maf more because mine were bad and I had the parts laying around but it is possible the ecu for the larger displacement l28 might run a longer pulse width since the L24e and L28e use the same sizes injectors as delivered from the factory.

The 1982 280zx non-turbo ecu may not work on other years since the 280zx came with at least 3 fuel pump schemes in it's run as some had 3 some had 2 and some had 1 fuel pump relays and the later 280zx ecu uses the e12-92 ignition module which allows the ecu to control ignition advance.

Who knows......maybe the earlier e12-80 module would be better but it might put a later style ecu into some sort of limp mode or not run the fuel pumps because the ecu doesn't see a crank reference signal.

It does burn the crap out of the tires.

Yes, I took it to the track last week and yes I found a victim.

My time on the right.....

Nice pics guys, I love 2nd gens a lot. Truth be told, my father had an 87 SE and that was the first car I ever saw and liked. Possibly the car to make me a car enthusiast. If I could get one for cheap and restore it, I would.

Sorry about the old bump.

Here's a 1983 Maxima bought a few weeks ago. It's in rough shape.

It's pretty ugly right now. Needs the interior refreshed and a paint job. The paint is in okay shape, but that color to me is ugly.

Damn, that's what i was thinking, painting it white..well, assuming i could find enough junked maximas to change the interior color also. Never thought about a hood scoop..that's an interesting idea.

Z31 hoodscoop are awesome, IMO only older style car bodies can pull them off. for Maximas that would be 3rd gen and under

Big E Dog has one on his 2nd gen, see his sig
