New Wheels! (on a 1st Gen)
Update 5/17/2010... These wheels are for sale for $1400 obo (professionally refinished, no tires mounted since refinishing).
I finally got a set of nice rims for my car! Now... I just need to fix all the dents and get it painted... I put a full set of coilovers and Tokico Illumina struts, and front camber/caster plates on it. I still need to adjust the ride height (lower it by about 1/2" I think) for it to look quite right. They are BBS RS rims 16x7 in front and 16x8 in the rear both with 24mm offset. The front tires are 215x50ZR16 and the rears are 245x45R16. I just finished rolling the rear fenders and dont have any rubbing! Check it out:
Check out how closely the rears line up with the side of the car:
Looks a little tougher with some more meat in the back... dont mind the messed up tail pipe, the 3" stainless mandrel bent piping is in the garage waiting for a good Saturday:
I'm quite excited that I finally got them on... but I have to leave for 2 weeks for work so I can't drive it around for a while...

sweet wheels!!! Did you get them off a Q45? Not sure if the lug pattern is the same but it the only thing I can think of off the top of my head that would have a RWD offset and comes with those wheels stock.

Thank man... they were on a Nissan C31 Laurel (Japanese). I think they were ordered to fit the car originally. They were the only set I have seen that would fit the Maxima quite right as of yet... definitely very close, and a little lucky :-).

My head is spinning a mile a minute... the wheels were bought knowing they would fit a 510 if I sold the car... but I think I'm going to keep it :-). However, I am still looking to get rid of the engine setup. I "kinda" just picked up a 36,000mile BMW 5.0L 300hp V12... and want to stick it in something... not sure what yet.
I havent had a chance to check the existing alignment with it raised up a bit. I am only going to lower it within stock tolerances until I can pull the rear crossmember and slot it for camber/toe adjustment. Thats when I'll lower it to the best [visual] height.

I'd think your best bet would be to build up a turbo setup from an old straight-six Z, since the blocks should swap right in, right? It would probably be the easiest and require the least amout of midification to make it fit...
Good luck!

I don't really know. I've read some Australian boards where there are guys having success with modifying turbo RB's in A31 Cefiros (the RWD precursor to the A32 Cefiro/Maxima/I30). They have some of the coolest cars down under.

Niku-Sama is right, I already have a 280ZXT engine in there. Hoping to get a 3" mandrel bent exhaust on in a couple weeks for a reasonable power gain.
I agree with you, MaxKlinger... but it is fun to think about putting that thing in the Maxima. I'm probably going to put the BMW engine in an old 3 series BMW in a year or so... we'll see, plans are always changing.
The other thing is that the RB series engines weigh more than the original L24e engine... the bmw v12 weighs about 100lbs less (according to various sources, i'll know for sure when i weigh it).

thanks again guys.
the piece above the rear bumber is being replaced ($74 new from Nissan). I need to pick what color I'm going to paint the car or choose to just color match as best as possible, and start getting to work.

Sweet...........was wondering if they still made the only part on my first gen that has rust on it.
I run the 1984 300zx wheels with 215/55s and not really any rubbing.......and the speedo isn't changed because they're really close to the stock diameter.

contact http://www.courtesyparts.com/ for the best nissan pricing (i've found). they can get that part, and several other body parts. some can be had at a reasonable price, some are much more expensive.

it is, it almost looks like a ZX-R but the tail lights are the later 80's 280 lights and not the 79'/early 80's lights
so i guess mabe a look alike spoiler stuck on it, of course its just the very edge i can see so it might be completely different
