Anybody had to replace the speedometer cable

I just got my 88 max back from the shop with a new MAF and a new Air Inlet Tube. I notice on the way home that the speedometer isn't working. Is it possible that the mechanic could have accidently done something that would caused it to stop, or, is it possible that it's just time for a new one?

Anybody had to do this yet?

I pulled mine out when I drained and refilled the tranny fluid....you can see it going into your tranny (or to the engine close to the tranny, I foget), it is held down by one or two bolts. Its on the driverside of the engine bay. I would check and make sure that is still hooked up before I did anything.

Quite an "accident": shop is responsible for this one...

The speedometer end (at least my model -89) is plastics and snaps easily, melted/repaired with solder iron. But I think this is not your case. Anyway its good PM to take the wire out, lubricate and put back in.
