power mirrors don't work...

both side view mirrors on an 87 max don't work, I tried replacing the switch and they still don't work, what else could it be? thanks

could they be tied to one of the fuses?

I don't think these are fused to tell you the truth. My passenger side one works, but the driver side one quit working a while back....and changing the mirrors didn't solve the problem either...it could be a relay or something....but I haven't seen a fuse specifically for the mirrors.

mine used to come and go as they pleased, just like the flasher switch and the A/C switch, among 101 other things. I had numerous "bad connection" electrical problems like that in my max. I'm not too sure if there's a fuse or if they run off a fusible link or circuit breaker or whatever. best thing I can say is get a diagram from the FSM or whatever and start probing and pinpointing.

OK, I'm not too good at reading this stuff, but in my FSM the mirrors are fused. It should be a 15A fuse in the fuse box. It looks like it should be the very first fuse (top one in the left hand column) for U.S. models.

I used to have an '86 and i know there was no fuse in the fuse box for the mirrors, maybe they changed that for the 87 model year? Can someone with an '87 actually go and look in their fuse panel and tell me if there is a fuse for the mirrors, I know i'm being annoying now but i can't go and look for myself becuase this '87 max I might me buying. Hopefully it's just a fuse but if its not there may be more electrical probs with this car and I may not want to buy it.

Just went out and had a look:
My 87 has a fuse in that spot. It is a 15A fuse. However, on the back of the little door the key says that the fuse in that spot is for the cigarette lighter.

turboast4: Try pullin the fuse for the cigarette lighter and then try the power mirrors. If they don't work, then most likely they're on the same fuse. Thanx...I really appreciate you time and cooperation and everyone else's replies.

Unfortunately, my battery is DEAD and I have to jump it everytime I start it up. It was running yesterday, but lost it's charge since then. I won't be able to check it out without starting it up, which won't be for like another few days--prolly Sunday-ish.
