It is loud. But the pump emits this sound for 20-30 seconds, then it stops and you might not hear it for an hour. So, it comes on really intermittently.

The intermittent whining you are hearing is a sign of emminent failure of your pump and you should replace it at your earliest convenience. Trust me, I know....ahem....not a good day, that one...
Yes, it can that is how you replace the fuel pump. It should not be hard. Just disconnect the relay behind the back seat it is either green or blue cant remember. Pull the fuel pump fuse from the fuse box and start the car and have it run until it turns off on its own. Take the keys from the ignition and remove the rear seat and get to work. It shouldnt be hard.

Do you know, what other parts around the fuelpump assy. are recommended to replace at the same time? Any (primary) filter if any, or anything else?
I looked up fuelpump prices on the Internet, they are around $113, Bosch, most of the time, it is mentioned as "fuelpump ONLY". I guess, you can also buy the whole enchilada (fuel level sending unit too), but I have no problem with the sending unit.

Mine was makin noises like that and it ended up not being the fuel pump it was the fuel pressure regulator. This mey be your case too and it is alot cheaper to fix.
How do you know if its the fuel pump making the noise? I get a noise when i turn on my car, but I thought it was my starter needing degreasing which I dont want to do, but if its the fuel pump, might be simple, they have a $89 in the GB Section.
And what about this sound come from the front, around the manifold...
Along with this... the engine after starting drop down to nearly die then it comes up to normal..!!!
Any help ....

The EXACT thing happened to me. I replaced the pump and it still squeeked like a stuck pig. I replaced the Fuel pressure regulator and problem solved. I would definately recomend that people replace that part first before putting in a new fuel pump.
Thats what happened to my fuel pump, it was whining, then it died... Just today I got a excelent fuel pump out of an 86 maxima at the junk yard for $5. I did not know there was a major difference on the fuel pump and tank's from 85 to 86... the new one didnt fit, I tried swapping out the motor/pump into the old mount, but the electrical connector snapped off....
Check the junk yards, I got mine for $5.
As far as a Fuel Filter, I ALWAYS go with the offical NISSAN OEM fuel filter. The price is usually no different than a different brand.
If you want, you can install an Aftermarket fuel pump, You will just have to modify the mounts for it. I saw somewhere on a Z site, that someone was modding the mounts in a Z31 for an aftermarket pump. I will try looking for that link.
I have a 5th gen 04 maxima. Mine was whining from the front and it turns out that it was some dampers for the fuel pump. Anyway it cost to 300 bucks to fix.
