how can i tell, how do i use it, and does my car have a remote??? i have 1985 maxima something, i have the key pads on the door, figured those out nicely, but while under the hood i was reading this black box in front of the battery and I saw "Alarm" so , do i????

do you have an orange light on your dash that says "security" on it? If so than you have a factory alarm. Lock your car with the window down and wait a minute or two for the alarm to arm. Then pull up the door lock pin and your alarm should go off.
