Alternator/generator upgrade

Noticed tonight that when I'm stopped idling, the lights get a little dim. On a voltmeter I register about 12.3 volts. definitely time for a new alternator.

this one (and all the ones for my car) are rated at 70 amps. when you consider the blower fan, headlights, and foglights, this seems kinda low. does anyone have any suggestions to where I can get a higher amperage alternator? I know the ones for the 2nd gen maximas are rated at 90. since the harnesses are the same, I might get one, assuming the mounting is correct.

for my blazer, I was able to custom build one that can handle a little over 100 amps at idle, putting out about 14.8 to 15.3 volts at idle. it's a frankenstein alternator built from 3 different ones, cos GM used the same CS-series alternator for nearly 20 years in their cars and trucks.

My car actually does the same thing....and with the UDP on it, it's a tad more noticeable.

if you smell smoke...from the alternator...usually the bearing is toast (like mine was), otherwise there's been a short...or else... the internal regulator got loose and killed by the armature.
