is their any easy way to change the alternator belt?
when they re did every thing i got all new belts for it but some how i managed to get 2 poer steering belts. the belt it self is fine but in the morning it squeaks and it ****es me off and i was hgoping one of the other belts was the squeaker but NOOOOOO of coutse it was the one i didnt get
It shouldn't require you to move the compressor at all. Though you will need to loosen the tensioner on a/c belt to pop it, but you shouldn't be moving the compressor at all.
When I adjust the alt belt in my 87 I just lay under the passengerside of the front of the car and loosten the adjusting bolts and do it from there...I am sure if you take that bolt all the way in you will have plenty of room....its very easy if you just lay under your car.
i'm not adjusting it....i've replaced the alternator 2 times so far (one was defective) its just the crank runs the AC and then the AC pully has a seccond spot for the Alt belt which is behind the Crank/AC belt (which in my mind is kinda stupid) so i have to take the AC Crank belt off atleast the AC part to get the Alternator belt off.
either way on top of taking it down to get it retimed and Diag'ed its quite a project for tommorow
another easy way to do it is to jack up the front passengers side and take off the wheel and inner fender apron. the alternator and belts are right there. there's a pivoting bolt on top (14mm), the adjusting bolt (12mm I think) and the long tensioner screw (again, 12mm.) On the compressor, I'm not sure what belt goes on first -- whether or not it's the generator belt or the compressor drivebelt. I think the arrangement though is kinda thoughtless because if either belt breaks, you lose the charging system.
Holy snot Dan! That sig is huge! Your gonna have to resize it before the Sig 5-O's are knocking on your door! Probably about 500x500 pixels is the largest IIRC.
