Check this out there is a meet. Most of the cars are stanzas in Japan at that time there wasnt a maxima or Cefiro that covered our cars Looks. It seems the Designs we receive were off of old Stanza(U11)platforms. Thats what our Maximas are called over there. Take a look at this gallery and take a look at the Silver maxima(U11)(87-88 design) and the White Maxima(U11) 85-86 design for us. Theres even a pic showing of the right handed 87 interior I believe

Yeah, too bad they didn't offer that in the US. I wonder if they used the VG20ET motor, as apposed to the VG30ET. I know Austrailia utilizes the 2.0 liter V6 and I6 motors much more extensively then the US. Hell, if they even did the VG30ET, I'd like to see how they got everything to jive. Plus I wonder if we could import some parts to do a swap...like engine mounts, exhaust manifolds etc.

It was I believe the vg20et. That was the only one closes to the vg30e that had the turbo in it for our maximas. Ive seen one in a 510. It looks like ours but smaller and alittle weird lookin. Ill see if I can get a pic of it.

The green one? That's definately a 510. The one next to it was quite a feat. They crammed in a VG30DET in, there is no room between the fenderwells and the motor.

Yeah it was. Its cool to see but think about that Weight distribution. I wonder if that was something well worth to do.

Well, with how much the 510 weights, and with that type of weight distribution, it'd make it one helluva drifter. Despite that, when you have a 510 pushing some 200+hp, you better believe it when I tell you it'd make some built up v-8 car owners crap thier pants. I'd also be afraid of a 510 when it sounds like our maxima's, or a z32. Those are the cars you watch out for when your driving, they'll hand you your *** easy. Hell even a stock 510 can give you a little run for your money. Either way, with a car like that, it be worth your money to do anything to it. Its so flexible, and you can do anything to with them. You want a rally car, you got it, want a street machine, not a prob, you want to own everyone's *** at the dragstrip, with the right money, you got it.

YeahI know the hp number would be so I think the hp would make up for the weight gain. Actually thatd be real tight.

On a side note. Guess what... Our cars platform is linked very close to the Stanza. Even our suspension parts as well. Ive been talking to this guy in the Altima forum I need to email him but he was telling me about how ther are certain things that the U11 platform (our cars) could use from the U12 platform Stanza car besides the throttle body. I believe he gave me an example of a 240sx slotted brake rotor upgrade. Im going to have to do more Question asking though. Hopefully expect to see some new performance parts to retro-fit to our cars. Because for some reason stanzas have some pretty good performance parts. I think there are some things we can benefit from there. I think some parts are coming off of the 240s though. We'll see!! Hope big!!

Well our generation maxima's do share the same chassis with the stanza, which is the u11 chassis. And the 3rd gen shared the same chassis with the stanza with the u12 chassis. The maxima gets a beefier suspension to better handle the weight of the car though, though it shares some of the basic suspension part. In fact, the 240sx shares more with the maxima then some would believe. Things like motors, brakes, climate controls etc.

Yeah all the 240 and Stanza stuff Im trying to talk with this one guy into seeing what all fits. Brake wise Suspension wise etc. If this stuff does fit. Then we could get a big brake kit for a 240 and install it on our maximas as a direct bolt on.

Yeah, right. Good luck with getting those mods. I have been trying to crossbreed the Sentra, Stanza, and Maxima for the past couple of weeks. I thought that the Maxima is a high-end version of the other two, so those aftermarket parts should work with our cars.

I spotted a Bluebird in Germany last Thursday

[quote]Originally posted by max88q

I was on vacation last week in Germany and saw one those. I'd never even heard of them. Maxima freaks always spot the Maximas. I saw all of the great european cars, and took their pictures. When I saw that Bluebird, I couldn't believe it. I did get some funny looks taking pics of that. It had black leather interior, and was a manual tranny as most cars are over there.

SSS etc.

I just got back from Nassau (Bahamas) and noticed quite a few Bluebirds running around there. I also saw something badged as a Bluebird ARX. It looked very similar to the SSS. Unfortunately I didn't get any pics
Next time I'm requesting one of those for a rental instead of a Kia Visto

Actually, Bluebirds are still around in New Zealand, have a look here at the 2002 model, http://www.darrylphillips.co.nz/inde...__2002_Photo__ . There is no 2003 model though, so not sure if its been discontinued or not.

Strangely that the Stanza is the Bluebird. I wondered what they called the Maxima there while they had the Stanza body.

Stanza and Maxima were on the same chassis of the time, U11. They did have the Maxima Legran which looked more like the 87-88's, but yes the stanza and bluebird are the same car....and maxima and the bluebird are just about the same car minus a inch or so here and there...and the powerplant.

arent stanza's US's silvia J, Q, and K's?

and if they are on the same chassis of our maxima then i wonder if we could do a Sil-Eighty type thing with the body pannels (not the suspension ours are better)

Umm no, Stanza shared a motor with the 240SX (which the Silvia is here) in the US market, but they did not share chassis (240's are RWD, stanza is FWD).

ok i cant do this with out pictures....i need pictures...must go hunting

ahh those shifty japanese importers

1988 stanza http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6402

imagine its not a wagon

1991 stanza http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6402 in japan would be considered a Silvia J because its a 4 door

Silvias go in status's J, Q, K, (Jack, Queen, King,...King being sporty turbo'ed and Jack being Econo car)

it looks as if they did a shift in the years like the did with the blue bird going from our maximas to altimas and so on...stanzas look like they went from a crappy econo car to Silvia J's and Silvia Q's and K's were labled as 240's (for their being more sportyier)...why dont they just leavethe names alone?

i'm gonna research this more or untill i ge a job to do something with my time because i'm tired of sitting on my *** when i could be earling money to repaint and re upholster my car and fix it up some

Edit: again...
ok Silvia http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6396

240 SX http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6396

why do they have flip up lights and not the regular lights like the silvia's?

a little bluebird and maxima history, hopefully this helps clear things up a bit.

The bluebird has been around in the us as the datsun x10 series cars since datsuns introduction to the us in the 50's.

1981: The first car to be called the Maxima in the US was the 910 bluebird.

1985: The next generation maxima, the U11, shares its platform with the stanza. Both cars are versions of the bluebird (Stanza being the base model, Maxima being a pricier version)

1989: For Generation 3 (J30), the Maxima splits from the Bluebird/Stanza and becomes its own car. The bluebird itself continues on in the form of the U12 Stanza.

1993: The Stanza line is replaced by the U13 Altima. The body style of US Altimas is derived from Japan's Bluebird SSS.

1995: Maxima takes on a new form with the A32 chassis, which it shares with the 2nd generation Cefiro.

1998: The advent of the 2nd gen Altima ends US production of the bluebird, however, the original bluebird lasted one more generation in japan before it was replaced by the bluebird sylphy.

2000: The 5th gen A33 Maxima is released, shares platform with the 3rd (and final) gen cefiro.

2004: The current 6th gen Maxima (A34) arrives.

For the bluebird vehicles sold here in the US, most were released here several years after their debut in japan, for example, the 910 was first made in 1979 in japan, and didn't make it here to the US until 1981. Many had different engines here in the US than they did in their japanese counterparts.

here is a link for the nissan museum, its in japanese, but you can see the chassis codes and photos of the different cars. nissan museum and also the nissan history page, also in japanese, but has newer vehicles. nissan history

Plus I wonder if we could import some parts to do a swap...like engine mounts, exhaust manifolds etc.

I wasn't referring to maxima and bluebirds specifically. It was more of a broader scope. I know the 2 liter is a turbo.

The maxima's front end is longer than the bluebird and it comes with independant rear suspension while the bluebird comes with a live axle.

The first generation maxima has more in common with the 4 door skyline but the trim appointments are more like the bluebird.

Some of those bluebird guys run 590hp in their daily drivers over in australia.

They also got all the cool nissan 4 cylinders like the FJ20et and the Z18et.

I'm a member at 910bluebird.com, it's an Australian Forum.
The '77-'84 810/Maxima was pretty much a Nissan Bluebird
with 7" longer front clip to accomodate the L24E so that
we American;s would not compalin about a weak four
cylinder motor in the new Datsun "flagship sedan". :P

Nver really taken the time to read that whole DATSUN history page
even though I've seen it before. Datusn/Nissan/Infiniti have a rich
& confusing history clouded in the mists of time. Their link to WWII
and "Prince" cars is equally interesting.
