Sunroof not opening

I own an 1987 Maxima with the factory sunroof installed. When I click the open/close buttons, the motor runs but the glass does not move. I think it needs new cables or some drive mechanism. What's the problem? Where/How can I repair this?

I dont know if you got your answere yet, but if not heres how to fix it.....Take off that plastic cover where your map lights are right in front of your review mirror, there should be some screws to get it off, once its off you will see the sunroof mottor in there, your problem is that motor is loose, the screws are probally still in there, they may fall out whenyou take the cover off or you may see them in there somewhere, if not find some that will fit , screw the motor back tight again and that should fix your problem.

Yup, common problem with our cars. The mounting screws tend to want to loosen up and work themselves out. I had the same problem, know the only problem I have is the autostop seems to not work....or at least not that well because when it gets full open or close, I get that nice little grinding noise. I've though of swapping sunroof assemblies with that from an 87-88 so I can also get the tilt function, but I haven't figured out if I'm going to do that yet or not.
