2 part question.

Does a 84 maxima have OBD? If so how would I go about pulling any codes the ecm may have stored?

My 84 is running pretty well but I would like to run any possible codes since it does stutter a little when cold and has a wierd surge when using the accel on the CC.

No, it doesn't. I don't think OBD appeared on maxima's until mid-3rd generation. The ecu codes are probably pulled the same way as the 2nd gens, but I'm not 100% sure. You might wanna check a FSM for your car to see if it has the procedure in it.

I don't know for sure, but I've never heard of any 280ZX or 1st Gen Maxima with "codes" to pull. Its a basic analog style computer controlling 2 banks of fuel injectors back and forth with injection open times. That's all.

Your air regulator, and other sensors are what usually go bad.

that would make sense since the engine will run even if its consuming a ton of gas and a simple O2 makes such a huge difference in this model.

I'm a little less impressed with the maze of tubing, hot coolant and vacuum. What a pill this will be when I really do have a problem.
